To expand our GNSSSBAS systems capability, we are looking for a Navigation Systems Engineer mf. You work closely with our payload, satellite, operationsground systems engineering teams in order to align the performance of the satellite within the overall GNSS andor SBAS system context. Your Tasks Simulate endtoend GNSSSBAS system performance and trade off alternative architectures Define sub system requirements for groundsystemspace segment Lead and provide input to technical proposals Support test campaigns by analyzing measured performance and assessingtroubleshooting anomaliesnonconformances Analyze any nonconformances for impact and gain approval from customer Review and assess supplier documentation and participate in review meetings design, qualification, testreadiness, posttest, acceptance, etc. as customer Assess onorbit performance and anomaly reports Travel regularly to suppliercustomer sites supporting testing and technical meetings as above Your Qualifications Degree in Telecommunications, ElectricalElectronic Engineering, Signal Processing, or comparable discipline. SPECIFIC TASKS Mainly working on GALILEO Ground Segment processing facilities, in a role supporting the GALILEO Ground Mission Segment GMS team. Strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, signal processing techniques and GNSS security and processing facilities. Knowledge on virtualization and data centric processing is an asset. The specialist shall in particular have several years of experience relevant with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment and have good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation and testing systems. Specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. GNC Guidance Navigation and Control Systems Engineer

The successful candidate will support any or all the following activities Support to the ESTEC GNC Section for the development of space transportation GNC systems. This comprises, flight vehicles ranging from Expandable Launchers, Reusable Launch Vehicles RLVs as well as Ascenders and Landers for Exploration applications. Address the multidisciplinaryphysics and highfidelity End to End vehicle dynamics modelling with implementation in 6DoF simulation environments Matlab, Simulink, DSpace. The candidate must have a track record in the design of classical space transportation GNC systems including Thrust Vector ControlAttitude Control Systems. Mastering of advanced multivariable GNC design and verification approaches for the stability and performance robustness analysis is a prerequisite. Daily support and independent expert analyses shall be provided to the development of ongoing and future ascender and descender systems including microlaunchers, reentry systems, reusable VTVL Systems in atmospheric and orbital flight on current ESA Simulation and Verification Platforms. Specific GNC design tasks shall include detailed flight mechanics, environment, aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, actuator and sensor system modelling. The post holder shall perform system sizing, requirements capture, architecture conception, advanced GNC design as well as performance and SW validation analyses. Support shall be given to the conception of new Mission Vehicle and Flight Management MVMS Systems towards incremental Flight Autonomy. The MVMS architectures shall include Advanced Monitoring and Reconfiguration Systems FDIR as well as stateof the art Flight SW based on Robust Adaptable Control RealTime Optimised Guidance Strategies. New efficient validation Advanced Analysis Tools must be mastered to drastically improve the gaps and shortcomings of current validation approaches. The post holder shall provide regular Technical Reporting of the GNC Design and Analysis as well as contribute in the preparation and execution of project and technology studies reviews. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will bring a PhD or M.Sc. in Control and Aerospace engineering from a recognised Institute of secondary studies or equivalent and minimum of 4 years experience in the space sector. Additionally, the person requires Proven experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of GNC systems in different project phases. Proven knowledge of modern control design methods, commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB. Experience with rapidprototyping of hardwareintheloop systems. Ability to interface with industry. Position Reference 564 You will have the opportunity to provide engineering support to the Radio Navigation Systems Technology Section at the European Space Agency. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support to Navigation Projects e.g. EGNOS and GALILEO and RD activities in the fields of system and receivers performances in a hybrid PNT framework GNSS algorithms at signal and position level, deadreckoning motion sensors such as INS, visionbased INS, alternative PNT systems, use of signals from cellular network, etc.. Participation in studies supporting current and future PNT systems definition andor analysis, in particular for what concerns system performances and receiver algorithms signal processing, advanced hybrid PNT algorithms, situational awareness and mitigation of local impairments for improved availability, reliability and resilience. Participation to the activities supporting standardisation and technical working groups addressing the aforementioned topics. Design, definition and follow up of industrial contracts related to the aforementioned topics, including RD activities and.or procurement of GNSS testbeds and receivers for infrastructure or user technologies user segments. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Masters Degree in the fields of Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering. You have specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment. You have a strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, signal processing techniques, and digital navigation receivers. You have relevant experience with the GNSS1, EGNOS andor GALILEO systems and equipment and have and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems. You have proven experience in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications. You have strong experience at user level with satellite navigation receivers and satellite navigation positioning and integrity algorithms. You have a background and experience including handson tests and field trials in several of the following fields GNSS and associated user technologies, nonGNSS positioning systems e.g. alternative PNT, 5G, etc. and associated user technologies advanced signal processing and estimation algorithms applied to PNT for instance including but not limited to some of the following MIMO signal processing, kalman filter, particle filter, artificial intelligence and machine learning for sensor fusion. The following skills would be highly desirable You have some experience in system design and user equipment technologies for secure wireless systems.
