For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for a Mechanisms Engineer to work in the mechanisms section of the ESTEC mechanical engineering department. You will give support to Agency projects, technology research activities and evaluations of industrial contractors documentation and test verifications. Tasks and Responsibilities Mechanisms support to the projects directorates at ESAESTEC, with respect to the implementation of space mechanisms technology in future missions and space applications Conceptual definition of space mechanisms, configuration assessments and mission performance evaluations for science, space infrastructure, telecommunications and earth observation assessment studies and technology developments Establishment of requirement specifications for mechanism systems, individual mechanisms or mechanism components, dedicated to project or technology development applications disciplines, like robotics, cryogenics, telecommunications, space station and its utilization, earth observation and science, planetary science etc. Establishment of requirement specifications and statements of work for mechanism systems, individual mechanisms or mechanism components, dedicated to project or technology development applications Support and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the space mechanisms ECSS engineering standards Perform and support System Level Mission Definition studies and system conceptual design activities in support of the ESA long termfuture mission plans Identification of enabling mechanism and tribological technology activities for future ESA missions relevant to the ESA future mission planning. Experience and Education A university degree or equivalent in mechanical or aeronautical engineering Experience within the field of mechanism design, analysis, verification and testing, preferably in the space sector Good technical judgment and solid communications skills, verbal and in writing, are essential Proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies A good knowledge in space system engineering, space mechanism standards and their application to the design and verification of space mechanisms, is an asset. One of our space clients in the UK is looking for a Senior Mechanisms Engineer as a permanent position. Role Key Purpose The Mechanisms Team seeks a dynamic, organised and proactive Engineer with high technical capabilities and knowledgeexperience across a broad range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical, systems and optical engineering to work on the design, manufacture and test of various mechanisms. Key Tasks Management of new and existing mechanism products and accountability for budget, schedule and quality technical and hardware. Design of new or evolution of existing mechanism products whilst being mindful of system tradeoffs. Handson engineering including build, test and spacecraft integration responsibilities. Desired Product Ownership of microvibration management including attainment and progression of a welldefined roadmap and action list coordinating risk management across mechanism modules and payloads coordinating module and spacecraft microvibration testing liaising with mechanical system engineers on spacecraft analyticalprediction methodology and designing isolation systems as necessary. Support with vibrationdampening isolation systems for satellite equipments from mechanisms to vibrationsensitive equipment, e.g. opticspayloads. Interface with internal and external customers including verbalmeetings or authoring technical documents e.g. design reports, procedures, test reports Debugging mechanism hardware issues including electrical and component anomalies. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Qualifications MEng or BEng or equivalent ideally in engineering Experience. Proven successful ownership and management of technical projects delivered within budget and schedule constraints. Proven success within spacecraft engineering domain. Proven mechanical design experience including stresscritical components precision tolerancing and drafting materials awareness and fabricationmanufacture methods awareness Preferable experience with debugging hardwarecomponent issues. Electrical hardware design and software experience would be an advantage for the role. Knowledge Skills Selfmotivated, creative, high attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously or within project teams Ability to work under pressure in an organised and responsive manner. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Knowledge of mechanism products, mechanism components e.g. bearings, actuators, transmissions, feedback devices and their role within the system. Knowledge of the subject of microvibration and its implications for spacecraft systems. Knowledge and ideally practical experience of spacecraft systems and mechanisms such as, wheels, APMs, separation systems for example. Mechanical software knowledge preferable, including SolidWorks Ansys Matlab. Good MS Office Skills.

Design Engineer specialised in Mechanisms for Space Applications

Activity Design of mechanisms for space applications. Mission Based on the technical specification established by the client, you are responsible on the project for conceiving the mechanism, building the 3D Catia model, drafting the technical documentation associated therewith, defining the product assurance processes, compiling and prepare the manufacturing files in collaboration with the draughtsmen, supervising the manufacturing, supporting the tests until final testing and qualification of all elements of the mechanisms. You work together with the structure and the product assurance engineers. You regularly have to present and defend the technical choices made towards the clients. Your profile You have an engineer diploma in mechanics, microtechnic or aeronautic. You have a previous experience of minimum 10 years in the space industry, in particular in mechanisms. You are creative, rigorous and organized. You master CAO systems preferably CATIA V5 and are fluent in English, written and spoken. English is the working language of our flight hardware projects. You ideally speak and write French as common working language otherwise you will have to learn it. Starting date immediately or to be decided. Job Description ATG Europe is currently looking for a Senior Systems Engineer Mechanisms, to be deployed at our customers location in Switzerland. Our client is one of Europes largest, independent suppliers to the aerospace industry. They develop, produce and test subsystems and components for space applications, like satellites and launchers. For their Mechanisms Department we are looking for Senior Systems Engineers to work on a major satellite project. The project involves engineering work on scan mechanisms, pointing mechanisms and solar array drive mechanisms. Responsibilities Overall technical responsibility for projects and work packages in the field of space mechanisms Coordination and execution of work packages for the development of mechanisms in the frame of complex space projects Plan and coordinate technical project work in the fields of design, analysis, technology, electronics and optics Analyze requirements and break them down to subsystems Establish inputs to Design Development and Verification planning Analyze technical problems and establish solutions Define development and qualification tests and evaluate the test results Establish and review technical reports and specifications, primarily in English Participate to customer reviews, including effective presentations of working results Support proposals including costing of engineering tasks. Requirements University degree preferably in Mechatronics or Microtechnics, alternatively in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in development of electromechanical systems for aero Space or vacuum applications or in a similar position Experience in leadingcoordinating technical teams Experience in developing complex systems mechanical, electrical and optical Advanced level English is mandatory, preferably German as well Experience with requirements management and respective tools Knowledge of ECSS and experience with ESA projects is advantageous Experience in the fields of mechanical design CAD, Analysis FEM or control MATLAB are beneficial.
