The Key person will perform system engineering activities such as Justification of the system design including producing and maintaining any relevant analyses and budgets General support to system engineering activities, for example Documentation of system design and interfaces. Support to the technical coordination with Partners. Support to segment level activities and reviews as required. Participate to System level formal reviews. In performing these tasks, the Key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards and quality management procedures. Mandatory University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of large scale systems engineering and architectural design Demonstrated ability to analyse systems from an endtoend perspective Capability to prepare design documents, to perform systemlevel analyses and to produce and maintain technical budgets. A high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. In possession of sound interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. Able to work effectively in English and have knowledge of French EU national or valid work permit for Germany CV in Europass editable format Knowledge and experience with the following is considered an advantage Experience in EO satellitebased projects, particularly in the areas of near real time data processing or spacecraft control systems Experience with Model Based System Engineering with the support of dedicated tools e.g. CORE Space and ground system engineering processes and standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The post is required to support the Ground Stations engineering related activities of future ground segments mainly EPSSG and Jason CS .The post will also provide engineering support of the existing MTP, MSG, EPS programmes. The activity is assumed, as a baseline, to require a fulltime participation of one Consultant for the duration of the contract. The tasks of the Consultant will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT Head Quarter facilities in Darmstadt, but travel to Ground Stations and backup centres located within Europe, may be required for certain activities. The consultant shall support the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications. In doing this, the consultant shall support Engineering activities of Phase B of future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications mainly for supporting EPSSG and JasonCS activities The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase CD of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications The maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT MSG, EPS, Jason, ,.. in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations, The consultant will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team and will report directly to the SEP Ground Stations Engineering Team Leader. However when working in a given programme, the consultant shall report also within the established programme structure. In the performance of these tasks, the consultant shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant ground stations system engineering standards. Qualifications University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks. Required knowledge Heshe shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years. This experience shall include in particular Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TTC Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for mission specific andor satellite communications ground stations TTC baseband equipment and SLE compliant implementations Technical background in the specification and VV of ground stations and large antennas and tracking systems for LEO and GEO satellites ACU and receivers inclusive Knowledge of modulationdemodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TTC and payload data transmission e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards. Desirable Knowledge In addition, the knowledge and experience of the following processesareas is considered as an asset Competence and experience in the engineering processes for managing requirements from the definition phase through the traceability, verification, validation and maintenance stages using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORs Design and requirements engineering of large and complex Earth Observation related ground stations Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators System experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band. Standard RF and microwave tools and SW package for generation of signal processing related simulations andor semiautomated measurement procedures . The Consultant shall be in possession of sound organisational and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the consultant must be able to work effectively in this language.
