Main responsibilities For our activities at the European Space Operations Centre ESAESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are looking to recruit a temporary Junior Field Support Technician to work on the ESA Corporate IT contract for the duration of 3 months. The ESA Corporate IT contract provides support to all ESOC users in the areas of supporting the desktop infrastructure and in the provision, maintenance and problem solving for laptops, desktops, shared file storage, network connectivity, network printing and email to all ESA users. In addition, the group provides telephony support, fixed and mobile, and video conference support. The user community is a permanent one and has around 800 users. Due to the increased workload in the groups manning, we are seeking to recruit a Junior Field Support Technician on a 3 months temporary basis. The successful candidate will assist the group members with the more mundane aspects of the groups operation. These tasks will include, but will not be restricted to Imaging laptops and desktops in preparation for their deployment Troubleshooting and fixing network printer problems Simple problem solving at the users desktop IT Asset Database management Stock management. Ideal candidate This role offers someone new to the area of desktop support an ideal opportunity to develop hisher skills in a fast moving and busy environment. Enthusiasm, good human interfacing skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine desire to help users are all prerequisites for the role, more than any technical background, although, of course, that would be an advantage. Technician, Station Support Betzdorf Luxembourg Context The Technician, Station Support SSG Team covers the ground communications systems and power system operations on a 247 basis. The incumbent shall maintain and operate the SES ground assets in Betzdorf, Redu and other third party sites, with the main goal to provide uninterrupted communication with the satellites, and provide support to third party teleports that are contracted for TTC and payload services. SSG acts as first line intervention to the Betzdorf power and HVAC systems during outofoffice hours and provide hand and eyes support to hosted customer equipment. Responsibilities Respond to any ground system anomaly that affects the communications traffic, TTC, Orbit Determination or other measurement and analysis systems. Restore the service with the least possible delay Support Satellite and Communications Operations ReConfigure the Betzdorf Teleport in order to provide backhaul, signal processing and uplink services to our customers Proactively maintain the Betzdorf and backup stations in an excellent state Perform various backup switching.
