Engineer, System Reliability United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The System Reliability Engineer is a key member of the SES Networks Ground Systems engineering team providing technical leadership and expertise in the areas of satellite terminal, gateway, and baseband systems sustainment and support. The engineers primary objective is to ensure SES Networks customers have the highest quality gateways, terminals and baseband systems available, meeting the companys system performance requirements by driving continuous performance improvement. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Perform system engineering performance analyses in support of the SES Networks ground terminal and baseband systems Provide technical support to internal customers to resolve systemic engineering HWSW issues on existing customer deployed MEO Ka compatible antennas, RF components, and baseband equipment Develop and distribute resolutions to systemic issues using our Configuration Management process through field bulletins, software updates, manual updates, and training if needed Develop performance analyses strategies and tools to identify performance deficiencies in the deployed customer terminals Engage with antenna system, RF component, and baseband vendors to resolve HWSW issues including quality deficiencies identified in fielded terminals Identify and develop corrective actions and improvements in the deployed customer terminals Develop and document requirements, specifications, interfaces, test plans, and supporting the Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment programs Develop forwardlooking architectures and designs that support implementation of evolving O3b products and capabilities based on performance analysis Lead development of advanced terminal capabilities including antennas, modems, and RF components COMPETENCIES Customer focus Problem solving Selfstarter Oral and written communication Team player Leadership Prioritization Detail oriented Global cultural awareness QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE Required Minimum 610 years of combined education and experience in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Operational experience in remote baseband, IF, RF, antennas, and WANLAN equipment Moderate experience in development and deployment of VSAT systems Working knowledge of LinuxUnix operating systems Fluency in English, other languages are beneficial 10 of domestic and international travel Preferred Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Moderate experience in the telecommunications or satellite industry Moderate experience in performance analysis of satellite communication systems, satellite terminal systems, satellitebased networking data systems, and KaBand systems Working knowledge of internetbased network connectivity principles and implementation ExcellentGood command of MS Office package Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio Whats in it for you? Provide RF and Electrical system design, performance analysis, implementation and testing in support of MDA communication payloads. You will be selfdirected, innovative, organized, responsive, and possess strong communication and time management skills. On any given day, you may be called on to Be responsible for analyses of signatures signals as they relate to mission definition coupled with payload ground capabilities in optimizing system performance to meet customer mission technical requirements What youll do The communication specialist provides both payload architecture design and RF system performance analysis during the payload life cycle, including bids, requirement definition, project implementation, testing phases along with RD activities in support of payload or processes improvement. Provide support to andor lead payload design activities. Participate in the Payload electrical and RF performance evaluation. Write engineering documentations system requirements, SOC, verification and validation matrix, design description, systems budgets, equipment specifications, test requirements, RFDRFW. Perform system worst case analysis, inputs and support to program reviews EQSR, SRR, PDR, CDR. Payload assembly Integration and Test. Attend test reviews TRR, TRB, DRB, and NCRs. Support Payload testing EGSE, Test supervision, data analysis. Support Satellite tests at SC supplier premises. Support InOrbit Test IOT. Technical monitoring of major subcontractors Receivers, LTWTAs, Multiplexers. Support to DC RF harness design, Payload layout. Write up Payload Operations Manual. Heres the skills we need you to bring with you B.Sc Degree in electrical engineering, and 510 years experience in design. minimum experience in Communications Satellite Payloads in the satellite industry or equivalent.To fulfill the demands of design and development of new products the individual must show selfstarting instincts, an aptitude for creative synthesis, and the ability to utilize and quickly learn advanced design andor analysis techniques. Knowledge of and experience in Direct Radiating Array DRA Antenna with multiple active elements andor knowledge of digital signal processing will be considered favourably.
