Inside of the Operations Department we offer the following career option System Engineer Reference No. 3102020 Your Mission As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator GSOp, DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen GCCD, Germany. We are looking for a talented Galileo System Engineer who can support us to refine our Systems Engineering approach. In this position you will need a strong background and proven experience in System Engineering preferably with knowledge of Galileo as well as being wellversed in each stage of the systems life cycle. Moreover, if you are passionate to find and develop techniques to manage a system efficiently and ensure new infrastructure elements can be integrated in a seamless manner, you are the ideal candidate to complement our team. You will assume the following duties Supporting design activities for new or enhanced services and systems Analytical analysis to understand system impact of future activities Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for system analysis Evaluate systems and make recommendations for improvements Propose solutions to enhance system capability Requirement Management Developing the companys System Engineering capability Your Qualification Previous experience in System Engineering ideally more than 5 years Solid understanding of system engineering fundamentals and best practices with knowledge of contemporary system engineer techniques Excellent coordination skills Strong analytical skills Preferable to have knowledge of navigation systems such as ENGOS or Galileo Service oriented and problem solution working style An advanced level of English is mandatory Excellent written and verbal communication skills The position will start on the 1st July 2020, but an earlier start date is negotiable.

We are currently looking for a System Performance Engineer Biomass Project to support our customer in the Netherlands. System Performance Engineer Biomass Project Key Tasks and Responsibilities The holder of this post will contribute to all aspects relevant to the system performance of the Biomass mission up to Level 1 products in the context of the design and implementation activities undertaken in the frame of the Biomass Project. This includes project internal activities and monitoringreview of the relevant industrial activities. As part of the Biomass Team, you will have the following responsibilities Requirement Engineering Support the maintenance and coherence of system level requirements including Mission observation, Biomass EndtoEnd simulator BEEPS and Ground Processor Prototype GPP, external and internal calibration, ITU and RFI protection requirements Monitor and critically analyse the system level performance requirements allocation, their flow down to the relevant contributors, the associated margins and their evolution Support the payload team for aspects relevant to instrument performance requirements flowdown and instrument performance verification, including relevant models and tools Performance Budgets and Performance Modelling Maintain system level performance budgets in coordination with the Biomass Payload and EngineeringAIV sections. Critically monitor and analyse the compliance of the system performance budgets with the endtoend system performance requirements and propose corrective actions in case of deviation Develop and maintain system performance mathematical models and tools to support the performance assessment Support the BEEPS GPP verification and acceptance activities EndToEnd E2E calibration and Calibration Transponder Monitor and critically analyse the calibration transponder performance budget, its coherence with the system performance budgets and the compliance with the endtoend system performance requirements Verify and ensure the coherence of the E2E and external calibration approaches and ground processing implementation with the instrument internal calibration and instrument system Monitor and review the Biomass calibration plan and the specification, procurement and verificationvalidation of the relevant external calibration equipment General Support activities Support the definition of calval and inflight commissioning plans and the preparation, execution and analysis of the relevant inflight operations during the commissioning phase Support Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS reviews for what concerns the SAR processor and L1L2 processing interface aspects including crossverification activities of the PDGS operational SAR processor Support the interactions with the Biomass Mission Advisory Group MAG for what concerns system performance aspects Support Agency Project reviews. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree Masters or higher or equivalent qualification in a relevant physical science or engineering subject, together with a demonstrated background and experience in SAR systems, SAR performancecalibration and SAR processing, preferably acquired in a space project environment. Background and experience on the specific issues relevant to low frequency, fullpol SAR systems is an asset Solid analytical skills and the command of the physics and techniques of SAR systems, together with the capability to critically analyse the work performed by industry in the relevant areas, identify problems and proposeinstigate corrective actions Experience with programming tools and languages relevant to the implementation and maintenance of the system performance models e.g. MATLAB, Python Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
