Ground Stations System Architecture Engineer

One of our Space clients is looking for a Ground Stations System Architecture Engineer. This is a Consultancy Support position. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is October 12th 2015. Key purpose Modelling of ground segment subsystems, addressing functional, behavioural and interface aspects as correlated to the data schema. Refactoring of the architectural design of existing systems within the context defined for the Reference Ground Segment creating the systems models. Support the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Reference Architecture and its related artefacts. Definition of requirements for the components of the GS reference architecture. Support the assessment of impacts of changes required for operational systems as result of evolution of needs and maintenance activities. Support the update and maintenance of the documentation of operational ground segments as follow up actions stemming from agreed evolution and changes of the systems. Key tasks Requirements engineering, which consists in requirements analysis and validation, requirements allocation, tracing, and requirements change control. Functional analysis and architecture design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques. Ground Segment components specification. Interface definition. System analyses, performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness. Tradeoff studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning for the implementation of changes requested by operations users and customers. Build models of Subsystem of the Reference Architecture Ground Segment, capturing their requirements, describing the internal architecture and defining their external interfaces. Support the generation, review and maintenance of the documentation of the Reference Architecture Subsystems addressing their architecture, functions, requirements and interfaces. Support the management of the requirements of the Reference Architecture subsystem and Components, heeding on the evolution of the operational system and future systems, using DOORS. Categorise and link relevant Subsystem and Component requirements to the model for traceability. Refine the processes and working practices established for the application of the Model Based Systems Engineering and the use of Vitech CORE. Analysis of Engineering Change Requests issued for evolution of the operational ground segments. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the clients configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The actual work will be released and defined in terms of scope, period, tasks, and deliverables in individual Work Packages. Qualifications and Skills University degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline. Good English skills are essential. The following skills and experience are mandatory Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design. Space and Ground System engineering processes, and System and Software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools. Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. Vitech CORE, Enterprise Architect. Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. The following skills would be highly desirable Previous working experience in system engineering aspects of SystemGround Systems for MeteorologicalEarth Observation Satellites. Experience in evolution management andor product line management of assets shared across organisational parts. Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset.

JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The post is required to support the Ground Stations engineering related activities of future ground segments mainly EPSSG and Jason CS .The post will also provide engineering support of the existing MTP, MSG, EPS programmes. Your Tasks Include The Key Person will be part of the RSO division but shall initially provide support to the PRD department for the development of the MTG Programme focusing on the ground stations and MC systems and ensuring they are brought to a suitable level for the transition of the programme into routine operations. The role comprises a range of tasks across a number of different departments so the Key Person will need a broad knowledge of operational ground segments and how the ground stations and their MC systems fit into the general scheme.
