System Engineer Operations Preparation Support Sentinel Expansion

Thorn SDS is a specialist provider of engineering services within the European Space Sector. We have a new and immediate requirement for an experienced System Engineer to join our consortiums service team providing a number of preoperational support activities to the Mission Control Teams, linked to the evolutions and new developments required with the Earth Observation EO Flight Operations Segment FOS and in particular Sentinel Expansion Missions. The scope of the role is wide ranging but will specifically cover PreOperations Support in the following areas Ground Systems FOS Assembly, Integration and Validation A, IV SpacetoGround testing and Validation You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all these areas and, in addition, have a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing support to and integrating within Mission Control Teams for FOS development activities, ideally from early requirements definition phase to A, IV activities. You should have a good understanding of the operational concepts linked to File Based Operations FBO and the CCSDS File Delivery Protocol CFDP. A background and experience working with European Cooperation for Space Standardisation ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS and a good working knowledge of PUSC would be considered advantageous. We also expect you to have experience in drafting and implementing FOS System Test Plans, knowledge and understanding of the European Ground Systems Common Core based Mission Control Systems EGOSCC MCS and demonstratable experience of SCOS 2000 Mission Control Systems. Sentinels Expansion System Support Engineer

Solenix is specialized in the provision of highquality software engineering, technical consulting and operations services in the aerospace domain. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESAs Operation Center ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. We are looking for a System Support Engineer to provide engineering consultancy to a number of preoperational support activities to the Mission Control Teams, linked to the evolutions and new developments required within the EO FOS and in particular the Sentinel Expansion missions. The areas of support shall cover Ground Systems PreOperations Support FOS Assembly, Integration and Validation preOperational Support SpacetoGround Interfaces testing and validation preOperational Support Travel is estimated at approximately six missions per year. Security clearance is required. You shall familiarise yourself with the Sentinels Expansion mission aspects you are supporting and in general with the procedures and tools that are in use to operate EO missions. Considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks is required. As an overview, the activities will include Review of the EGOSCC user needs and support to the EGOSCC validation test campaign Review of the existing S2K EGOSCC CFDP support implementation and familiarisation with the Distributed CFDP concept and design Review of the existing S2K PUSC support extension and assessment of the required delta development for future EO S2K based missions Followup of the Distributed CFDP MCS function implementation verification activities, followup of the MCS PUSC support extension implementation and verification activities EGOSCC and S2K based missions control systems Support to the validation of the EGOSCC mission control system in preparation of EO missions related ITTs Support to the endtoend system validation of the FOS Distributed CFDP function, participation to the validation of the MCS PUSC support extension and support to the validation of the new MCS FOS infrastructure interfaces EGOSCC and S2K based missions control systems Required Skills and Experience A University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering science discipline As a minimum, 5 years of experience. Proven expertise providing support to and integrating within Mission Control Teams for FOS development activities, from early requirements definition phase to A, IV activities. Good understanding of the operational concepts linked to File Based Operations FBO and CFDP Background and experience working with ECSS PUS. Knowledge of PUSC will be a distinct advantage Proven experience drafting and implementing FOS System Test Plans Understanding and knowledge of EGOSCC MCS based systems Demonstrable experience with S2K based MCS Exposure to exportcontrolled information ITAR, EAR, EU, etc. may be required. Position Reference 714 We are currently looking for several System Engineer to work in the beautiful city of Toulouse to support the system engineering activities of The GSA. Galileo is Europes Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS, providing improved positioning and timing information with significant positive implications for many European services and users. The objective of this role is to support the ground segment engineering activities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Contribute to the technical management of the system and segment infrastructure evolution activities. Support the system development follow up, system qualification and acceptance activities. Participation to system anomaly review board UNCLACLA and contribution to the analysis of system anomalies in terms of requirements affected and potential impact on services. Analyse requirements traceability from mission level MRD, down to GSRD and segment requirements to confirm compliance to Exploitation, Mission and Security requirements Prepare the acceptance milestone internally in the GSA and in close coordination with external partners. Contribute to tradeoffs at GSA level between different deployment and migration approach scenarios, ensuring GNSS service continuity during migration activities. Prepare for, participate and represent the GSA in relevant boards if so requested by the GSA on a case by case basis providing a specific mandate, such as Change Control Boards, from the system and infrastructure point of view Analyse changes to be implemented in the system in operation and provide an assessment of their adequacy and impact on the system qualification. Produce and maintain uptodate the physical architecture diagrams to reflect the actual status of the system deployed and operated. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters Degree in Aerospace, Engineering or a relevant technical domain A minimum of 5 years of experience working in system engineering activities with demonstrated experience in Galileo. Experience in operations andor deployment of a complete satellite lifecycle and System Engineering methods and tools. Excellent command of both written and spoken English. Organised, dynamic and proactive. Security clearance EU Secret will be necessary, therefore only nationals of the EU countries will be considered for this role.
