DUTIES The postholder will be deployed in the Radio Navigation Systems and Techniques Section and will be responsible for radio navigation systems, techniques, equipment for ground and space applications. The principal tasks and responsibilities will include support to Navigation Projects e.g. EGNOS and GALILEO for system design and validation support to Navigation Projects e.g. EGNOS and GALILEO through participation in studies, simulations and laboratory testing for the assessment of endtoend functionalities and performance, including measurement campaigns, data processing and field testing support to Navigation Projects e.g. EGNOS and GALILEO for the design, simulation, development and testing of radio navigation equipment and techniques for groundspace applications participation in studies supporting current and future radio navigation systems definition andor analysis EGNOSGALILEO evolutions and GPS modernisation regarding system, signalsinspace design and ground processing contribution to the generation of innovative ideas in the field of radio navigation monitoring of contracts with industry for studies on radio navigation concepts and for the development of radio navigation tools and equipment generation of technical requirements and statements of work for the tasks to be performed by industry from early conceptual studies through to full development of hardware contribution to the developmentusage of laboratory facilities in support to the development testing of radio navigation systems. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters university degree or equivalent qualification in telecommunications or electrical engineering, with a good background in satellite radio navigation systems GPS, EGNOS, GALILEO as well as several years working experience in these fields. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team objectives. In addition, they should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. Applicants shall be eligible for security clearance from their National Authority. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. Our client is seeking a Satellite System Engineer to assist in the definition and development of a suite of system test tools and test data for an upcoming Earth Observation EO program. Typical responsibilities will include Identification of EO test tools and test data required to support VV activities and definition of developmentprocurement approach and associated planning, development and validation of test tools and their maintenance, procurement of test toolstest data and acceptance testing, simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools, compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite and instruments, support for configuration management of toolstest data sets, operational support of the tools during system and ground segment VV, contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports and preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of work. The successful candidate will have experience of VV activities for instrument processing chains, including test tools and test data along with experience in software specification, design and development according to ECSS standards. All applicants must be educated to a minimum of degree level or similar in Engineering Physics or equivalent and be fluent in English, both written and spoken. A knowledge of French is desirable but not essential.

This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, calls for experience of the overall systems aspects of satellite instrument chains embracing the space segment and all aspects of the ground segment including data processing and dissemination. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The role will embrace Identification of contributors to performance radiometric spectral geometric allocation apportionment to elements of instrument chains Definition of approach for performance modelling review of adequacy of related modelling tools Compilation and analysis of endtoend performance budgets, as needed collecting input from space and ground segment studies Definition of overall approach for the development, verification and validation VV of processing chains Identification of implications of processing concepts for system ground segment requirements, architecture and design Identification of required tools and test data for the development and VV of processing chains Support for the development of relevant tools and the generation of required test data sets Validation of processing algorithms and verification of processing chains in the ground segment as relevant for system VV of endtoend instrument chains.
