Multipath railroad crossing to be altered

In April, the Highlands County Commission voted to construction agreement revision between CSX Transportation and the Highlands County that would add two pedestrian safety gates where the College Drive/Memorial Drive Multi-Use Path sidewalk crosses the railroad tracks. Since then, CSX has and the county have been working to find a way to alleviate the dangerous section, said Julian Deleon, Avon Park city manager.

Feds foot bill for crossing upgrades

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and CSX Corp. have agreed to make safety upgrades at Marysville's two remaining unimproved public railroad crossings. The improvements will be made to the Raymond Road and Industrial Parkway railroad crossings, city Engineer Jeremy Hoyt said.

Houston County Sheriff's deputies arrested 34-year-old man after a Union Pacific Railroad employee went to investigate an outage at a railroad crossing Tuesday and found a man with a duffel bag stuffed with track wire. Adarius Dwayne Faggett, of Crockett, is still being held in the Houston County jail on two state-jail felony charges - theft of copper and interference with railroad property.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation and Portland Police Bureau advise the traveling public that a crosswalk enforcement action is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 at the unmarked crosswalk of NE 82nd Avenue and NE Pacific Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to raise awareness of pedestrian safety and Oregon traffic laws.
