During the past several months, the city of Kent has evaluated the potential of forming a local improvement district to fund railroad crossing improvements at three locations in the Kent Valley. They include the crossing at the South 228th Street and Union Pacific railroad tracks, and the crossings of both the UP and Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks on South 212th Street.

Farm Bureau Joins Fight Against Local Railroad Crossing Closure

Texas Farm Bureau joined some local businesses Wednesday to voice their opposition to a move by Union Pacific Railroad several weeks ago that closed a railroad crossing in East Waco which prevented customers from having easy access to the businesses. But Texas Farm Bureau Legislative Director Steve Pringle says the closure has ore to do with limiting liability and saving money than it does providing safety for drivers.
