Deutsche Telekom to sell Romanian fixed unit to Orange - report

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has received the Romanian state's approval to sell its fixed-line telephony division, the former Romtelecom, to Orange Romania, writes local publication Economica.net citing sources in Telekom Romania. The approval from the local government, which holds a 45.99 stake in the fixed unit, was obtained following the visit of Srini Gopalan, a member of the Deutsche Telekom board, and Charalampos Mazarakis, the financial director of the OTE group. Both Telekom and Orange refused to confirm the sale.
Vodafone Spain mulling fixed network sale - report

(Telecompaper) Vodafone Spain has been considering the possibility of selling its fibre and cable network with a view to funding its operations in the country, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily Expansion. Investment funds and major operators have reportedly expressed an interest in the fixed network, which has been valued at around EUR 1.2 billion, said the sources.

Telia Finland commences fixed telephony network shutdown

(Telecompaper) Telia Finland said it had started its fixed telephony network shutdown at the beginning of June. Some subscriptions had been idle but half of consumers continue to use their old landline number with mobile technology, it said. The landline shutdown had been announced in January.
