EU regulators report fixed data traffic up 60-70% since start of pandemic

(Telecompaper) European telecom networks are holding up well during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, with no signs of network congestion, according to the latest report from the assembly of telecom regulators, Berec. Data from November shows that data traffic continues to exceed pre-pandemic levels, with increases of 60-70 percent on fixed networks as more people work and learn from home.
Orange acquires majority stake in Telekom Romania's fixed unit

(Telecompaper) Orange Romania said it signed the agreement for the acquisition of a majority stake in Telekom Romania's fixed division from Greece' OTE. The transaction includes the 54 percent stake held by OTE and the subscribers of the fixed-mobile converged services. The remaining 46 percent is held by the Romanian state.

Nokia deploys 5G radio, core and fixed network equipment on Vodacom South Africa network

(Telecompaper) Nokia has announced that it is deploying its 5G radio, core and fixed network equipment on Vodacom South Africa's network. Vodacom is using Nokia's 2G, 3G, 4G and fibre access networks, as well as 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) and mobile broadband products. Nokia is supplying its AirScale, Fastmile and Subscriber Data Management (SDM) / Home Subscriber Server (HSS) products to Vodacom.

Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Provide key support to the Fixed Asset coordinator in the following activities Leading the midyear and EoY closure process for Fixed Assets for HRE. Performing the necessary controls to ensure that HRE fix assets process is auditable o Managing the FA structure in HRE. Approving fixed assets FA master data requests for offtheshelf FA purchases. Approving the scrappingdisposaltransferacceptance of FA. Setting up and implementing FA labelling campaigns. Initating and performing physical checks of Directorate FA, in coordination with the Finance Accounting and Fixed Asset Section HIFFAA. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Master degree in the area of Finance, Engineering or Legal or similar field, with at least 4 years of experience. Experience within multicultural and international environments. Professional experience in fixed asset processes or asset controller preferably at agency or industry level. Knowledge of procurement process. Strong problem solving and result driven approach. Strong ability to work independently and within group. Very good communication and writing skill. Ability to work under short delivery notice on multiple related activities. Very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience in another function in finance, controlling and auditing. Knowledge andor understanding of spaceESA systems architecture. Tele2 Q3 earnings rise as revenue dips, may seek to add fixed connectivity in Baltic region

(Telecompaper) Tele2 has announced a 3 percent drop in organic revenue in the third quarter to 30 September, mainly caused by lower termination rates charged between operators. Underlying EBITDAaL increased by 2 percent organically thanks to a strong performance in the Baltic region, where Tele2 may seek to add fixed connectivity, and to cost savings. The Swedish B2B segment suffers from insufficient profitability, it said.
