Role Description Summary The Senior Solution Engineer is the primary technical point of contact for prospective and existing customers within the Global Fixed Data segment. The Solutions Engineer is an integral member of the Americas Fixed Data Regional Sales Team, providing support in all aspects of defining, developing and implementing solutions for customers service requirements using the full suite of products and services using both the SES GEO and MEO satellite assets and ground networks. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Prospect prequalification with direct interface with customer prospect engineers, and business development staff Respond within strict and short deadlines to Request for Proposals RFPs and tenders Develop optimized technical service solutions and prepare technical proposals in support of sales requests and formal RFPs with a detailed understanding of the customers service needs, business environment and commercial requirements Perform engineering analysis to determine how services can be offered and optimized Prepare and present customer presentations on service solutions, systems design and standard products Provide training to customers both internal and external on SES Networks products and services Engage with customers to schedule operational trials and demonstrations Support Marketing Department as technical author when required Represent SES Networks at trade shows and industry conferences Liaise with customers to help them grow their business with SES Networks by identifying new applications which can be commercialized Track and understand innovative new technologies such as new satellite access schemes, antenna design, and wireless and network technologies to create compelling customer solutions Assist Product Development in understanding what customers need to grow their business in terms of satellite architectures, new product types, ground terminal developments, service cost models, beam placements, and SES Networks operations customer service support Maintain existing customer frequency allocations including satellite carrier and or lease changes, transmission plan activation and maintenance using SES software tools Mentoring US Solutions Engineering team members as Subject Matter Expert with the knowledge gained of E2E Solutions Products Managed Services offering and SLAs When required, provide Solutions Engineering support to other sales teams Other adhoc duties or projects, as required by the Line Manager. Competencies Technical knowledge Proficiency in satellite transmission analysis and complex solution engineering. Extended knowledge of satellite design, Broadcasting technologies, VSAT networks, network architecture, access schemes, data networking, engineering software development and radio frequency propagation analysis Knowledge of Internet Protocol IP networks, access routing, BGPMPLS, IP Peering and SDN, networking technologies in addition to international Carrier services Comprehension of Central and Edge architecture and impact to customer serviceexperience. Ability to discuss Big Data Analytics, Network Intelligence and Machine Learning, Service Network Orchestration, Closed Loop Automation. Networking topology skills to include Network Functions Virtualization NFV, Lifecycle Orchestration LSO, Open Network Automation Platform ONAP and Management and Organization MANO. Innovative thinking Networking knowledge to a level whereby the integration of 5G services with Cloud Services will dramatically impact a customers business or service Excellent Negotiation Communication skills Ability to efficiently assist Sales in creating winning technical proposals. Good presentation techniques and effective sales proposal skills. Ability to work effectively in structured or virtual teams. Excellent Customer Relation skills Build and maintain relationships with customers guided by the capture team leader in order to retain and grow revenues and margins Ability to gain a clear understanding of the customers businesses and technical requirements. Provide advice upon forthcoming product developments or services that could lead to new sales andor to service optimizations Experience Ideally within the TelcoISPMNO segment, including Solutions Architect either within Telco or suppliers to the Telco sector Market intelligence new technology developments In this highly competitive market it is necessary to have an ongoing knowledge and understanding of the market and developments in the customer base. Telia Finland starts offering home 5G fixed wireless internet

(Telecompaper) Telia Finland said it has begun offering 5G home fixed wireless access. Called Yhteys kotiin kinntea 5G, the service is aimed at the three quarters of detached houses that lack fibre connectivity. It said there are about 1 million detached homes in Finland and fewer than 55 percent of Finns have the opportunity to use fixed broadband at 300 Mbps or more, with such fast service usually restricted to apartment buildings in large cities.
