Spain suspends mobile and fixed portability during coronavirus lockdown

(Telecompaper) The Spanish government has ordered all operators to suspend fixed and mobile number portability processes as part of its effort to halt the spread of the coronavirus, confirming earlier reports. In a newly-published decree, the government said the ongoing lockdown due to the "State of Alarm" announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on 14 March requires the immediate suspension of portabilities with a view to preventing unnecessary movements and contacts.

Telecom Italia preparing to set up fixed line network newco with KKR - CEO

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to set up a newco called 'FiberCop' for its fibre and copper last-mile network and sell 40 percent of it to private equity firm KKR, according to CEO Luigi Gubitosi. Speaking after the publication of TIM's full-year results, Gubitosi said the company expects to make decisive progress this year on plans to provide Italy with a nationwide ultra-fast broadband network and confirmed that separate discussions are underway with KKR and wholesale rival Open Fiber, leaving the door open to a "possible convergence" at the end of the process.
Berec proposes minimum 1 Gbps for very high capacity fixed networks

Maroc Telecom fined MAD 3.3 bln for restricting competition on fixed market

(Telecompaper) Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency has fined Maroc Telecom MAD 3.3 billion (EUR 311 million) for anti-competitive practices. This follows a complaint from rival Wana (Inwi) over the incumbent's failure to comply with regulations on local loop unbundling.

Segment Market Manager Fixed Data United States Reston, Virginia Your Job The Segment Market Manager SMM Fixed Data will be part of a team forming and executing the strategy for, and developing and positioning SES Networks products, services and solutions into the Fixed Data market segment, including SES Telco, MNO, and other Fixed Endpoint customer base.
