RHEA is currently recruiting a Flight Dynamics Engineer to support the Sentinel3 programme at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Determination and maintenance of the satellite orbit and generation of products for the Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS and Flight Operations Segment FOS Planning System FOS MPS, Support to the ground segment operational preparation activities as required prior to launch of Sentinel3 satellites, including Flight Dynamics database preparation, definition of operational procedures, generation of related operational configuration data and participation to operational validation of satellite and groundsegment operations Support Flight Dynamics activities during launch and commissioning. Review spacecraft and groundsegment technical documentation and participation and transition to routine operations, perform required mission and system studies, preparing technical notes and attending to technical meetings as requested. Performs the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of the S3Flight Dynamics Facility. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory At least a university degree in the relevant discipline with 5 years of experience in the domain of work. Demonstrated thorough understanding of space flight dynamics concepts and techniques, with special emphasis on Low Earth Orbit LEO regimes At least 5 years experience of flight dynamics system development or operations based on NAP EOS or derived software At least 3 years of general programmingsoftware development F90, TCLITK and, as desirable, Matlab and Java Ability to understand and synthesise complex issues and to express ideas and issues clearly. FLIGHT DYNAMICS Engineers mf The Mission We anticipate your engagement will include contribution to both currently flying and future Earth observation and interplantary missions e.g. Earth Care, Galileo, Sentinels, Exomars, Rosetta as well as to interplanetary missions, including missions to Mars, Venus, the comet ChuryumovGerasimenko and to the Lagrange point. The Challenge We are searching for several Flight Dynamics Engineers, who would work on the site of our customer, the European Space Operations Centre ESOC, located in Darmstadt, Germany. Sample tasks include Orbit and attitude maneuver preparation, maneuver performance analysis, orbit determination and propagation, trajectory optimization, product generation, software test and validation, support for simulation campaigns and critical operations Attitude command file generation, actuator and sensor calibration, attitude determination Conceptual design studies for the operational flight dynamics system, operations preparation and planning Flight dynamics software maintenance Adaptation of algorithms to new and exotic space environments, adaptation to new interfaces and functional requirements, migration to new hardware andor operating systems These are fulltime positions with a planned starting date in April 2015 TBC. Your Qualifications Applicants should have a superior university degree, preferably in astro physics, mathematics, space engineering or a closely related discipline. Previous work experience in space flight dynamics is desirable, but not required. We welcome applications throughout Europe. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The Flight Dynamics Engineer FDE shall mainly perform tasks related to flight dynamics involving primarily the determination and maintenance of the satellite orbit and generation of products for the Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS and Flight Operations Segment.
