This is an opportunity for a Engineer to work in the domain of satellite operations to start latest 1st of January 2016. The position is unlimited and permanent and based at our customers premises ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The submission deadline for interested candidates is 28th of October 2015. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES This position is covering a Flight Dynamics Engineering operational service support request, within the Sentinels Flight Dynamics Team CopernicusSentinels Operations Teams. The main area of responsibility for this service is Flight Dynamics Operations Engineering, primarily but not exclusively, on the following subdomains Orbit determination and Prediction Systems Orbit control and maneuver optimization Systems Mission Analysis Systems The areas covered are Support the Flight Dynamics Operations in routine and special operations including LEOP and deorbiting of the assigned Sentinels Missions, and provide expertise on those areas to any other Sentinels when required Sentinels Flight Dynamics software exploitation, operation and maintenance, including development of tools e.g. scripts, etc. to operate such systems Support to Sentinels launch campaigns FD system tests, simulations to prepare and validate operational support Oncall, and eventually call in, support to support potential collision avoidance maneuvers Generic flight dynamics support to other Sentinels Ground segment systems and teams FCT, SIM officer, ground stations, The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE University degree or equivalent education in Software or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Previous experience in ESOC FD in the specified subdomains is a distinct advantage Knowledge of ESOC FD infrastructure SW to be used for Sentinels Required background in mathematics, mechanics and dynamics Mature problem solving skills Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Service provision will be exclusively in English Wellorganized, able to prioritize and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with FD systems Familiarity with programmingscripting languages Familiarity with ESOC FD infrastructure software used for Earth Observation missions Experience working with operational missions in orbit determination and control, and particular previous experience with CopernicusSentinels missions DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience in working in an operational environment Familiarity with FORTRAN programming language Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of flight dynamics operations on EO satellites, Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites.
