We are looking for a Ground Segment Engineer with several years of experience in the field of ground segment systems engineering for earth observation missions. The Engineer should start the position on the 1st of January 2014 Earth Observation Ground Segment System Engineer 2724 Responsibilities Duties The engineer will carry out tasks which support activities related to Phase B of the EPSSG programme and Phase CD of the MTG programme in the area of ground segment engineering. The ground segments of these programmes consist of TTC and payload acquisition ground stations, mission control systems, data processing and archiving facilities, data dissemination facilities and the associated network elements. The engineer will perform typical system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning Planning for integration and verification, which final objective is to demonstrate that the deliverables conform to the specified requirements Qualifications Experience University degree in the domain of engineering, or equivalent At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in the specification, design including functional analysis and modelling, implementation, integration, and verification of large and complex Earth Observation ground segments Essential Skills The Engineer shall have experience in the following area Experience in the preparation of ground segment requirements and design documentation Experience in system engineering practices and processes, especially in the field of space systems engineering, including knowledge of ECSS standards and system life cycle processes Detailed knowledge of at least 2 of the following and a good overview of the others Networking Communications, Ground Stations, Near RealTime Data Processing chains, Satellite and ground segment control systems Fluency in English is required Desirable Skills The following areas of expertise would be an advantage Experience in data archive retrieval and data dissemination systems Experience in management and traceability of complex requirements structure experience with DOORS administration Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE, Enterprise Architect Experience in Model Based System engineering techniques and tools Benefits Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday, generous training possibilities, Telespazio VEGA pension scheme is offered to the successful candidate.
