Phase CD started upon the completion of the ground segment Preliminary Design Review May 2012 and will continue until the Qualification Review presently planned mid2018. The duties range from specification, analysis, design, build, deployment and subsequent verification. The activities for this consultancy relate to the ground segment, consisting of the data acquisition systems, monitoring and control systems, data processing and archiving facilities product dissemination facilities and the encompassing network elements. The MTG Ground Segment System Engineer will perform typical system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, consisting of requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics Integration and verification, demonstrating that the deliverables conform to specified requirements. The Engineer will also provide general support to ground segment detailed definition, production and qualification phases Management of the requirements baseline, including for changes, deviations and waivers and evaluation of impact on element baselines Ensuring availability of long lead items, particularly those needed for verification such as ensuring availability of procuring test data and tools Completion of the detailed design of the ground segment system, including analyses architectural tradeoffs, system technical budgets, RAMS, FMECA, risk analyses to ensure completeness and coherence of the design for all aspects related to system engineering. Preparation and follow up of external studies Evaluation of results of studies internal or external and related engineering proposals for the ground segment detailed design Support to the performance of elements design for internally developed elements Review of all externally procured elements designs Support to finalisation and subsequent maintenance of the ground segment internal interfaces definition Support to finalisation and subsequent maintenance of the ground segment system level design Support to element level activities Support to preparation of the ground segment system and constituent parts assembly, integration and verification detailed planning Participation in reviews and meetings at system, ground segment system and element level Support to the preparation and maintenance of schedule, resource allocations and Work Breakdown Structures for system engineering activities. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree or equivalent in the domain of engineering or science.
