For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Software Support and Maintenance for Ground Station Monitoring and Control Systems fm at ESOC. Tasks STCII is the central monitoring and control system for ESA ground stations. It is currently deployed on eight ground stations of the ESA tracking network. The system is responsible for monitoring and controlling all ground station equipment, to apply all configurations necessary to support tracking of spacecraft and to receive telemetry from and to send telecommands to the spacecraft. The system implements a high degree of automation to support unmanned operation of ground stations in various countries around the world. The STCII installed in the Operation Centre in Darmstadt allows remote monitoring and control of all the supported ESA ground stations. The STCII system uses a configuration database, which configures the online system to operate on different ground stations and to support different spacecraft missions. Preparation of the configuration databases is supported by the socalled Ground Station Tailoring System GSTS. Emphasis of the project is in particular on the maintenance and the continuous development of the configuration databases. The project tasks include STCII Tailoring Implementation of ground station and satellite specific STCII procedures Configuration of STCII for new ground station devices Preparation of STCII tests GSTS installation and configuration Clarifications with customer UnixLinux and PC System Administration Configuration, setup, and validation of STCII work stations and servers for deployment on ESA ground stations Set up of system test environment in ESA Test Station TCPIP network configuration Operating system installation and user support for SUN and UNIXLINUX systems System administration for Solaris and Windows systems Requirement clarifications with customer Implementation of ground station and satellite specific procedures Configuration for new ground station devices System commissioning on ground stations Essential requirements For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory Basic knowledge of Windows and UnixLinux operating systems UnixLinux system administration experience would be helpful Experience in software testing and validation Ability to understand the operational design of Man Machine Interfaces MMI Validation of system configuration Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Familiarity with database supported problem and issue tracking systems and configuration databases Familiarity with maintenance workflows Handling of customer support and feedback in a firstline maintenance environment Ability to understand and handle complex systems Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients Team player working effectively with colleagues, clients and secondline support teams. Ability to manage several tasks in parallel and handle stress Ability to adapt and work within an international organisation Good communication skills in English written and spoken Other information Must be an EU national or possess a valid German Work Residence Permit The system is operated on 247 basis with firstline maintenance provided during normal working hours. Special support may be requested during launch campaigns and critical spacecraft operations.
