Key Tasks and Responsibilities In support of ESAs Directorate of Human Spaceflight and Operations at ESTEC you will have the following responsibilities Review engineering documentation and ensure consistency at configuration level between ESA and Industry Participate in Project Reviews by reviewing system engineering and configuration data, and coordinate the process for generation of discrepancies RIDs, final disposition by originators, closure and status tracking Conduct engineering and documentation configuration audits and support hardware configuration inspections Act as secretary to Divisional Engineering and Verification Boards for o Processing of changes, deviations and waivers o Coordinating the review of projects requirements closure, the verification control documents o Provide project action item lists and closure status Provide supervision and maintenance of the documentation library and archives within existing databases Coordinate with the appropriate engineering teams for updating the content of the configured baseline Support Divisional ISO 9001 activities. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Preferable a technical degree or equivalent Several years experience in Configuration Management in space companiesorganisations Sound knowledge of configuration modification control systems and processes Experience in space system engineering and engineering processes control Good knowledge of the HSO directorates programmes Indepth knowledge of the Industry and ESA configuration management related working procedures and tools, like ECLIPSE and its predecessor, DMS, the RID system for project reviews and DOORS for requirements verification A high level of computer and database skills Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Guiding and monitoring the documentation management system of the Copernicus Space Segment Programme. Providing support to the Quality Management System activities within the Directorate for the Documentation and Configuration Management aspects. General tasks to be performed Configuration control covers both ESA internal activities and activities performed by Industrial Contractors. The preparation of adequate requirements and CM systems auditing are also part of the tasks. It includes the following typical duties Establishing adequate processes for proper Product configuration control, including Configuration management planning, Configuration items identification, technical requirements base lining, production and maintenance of configuration item data list CIDL, Management of configuration evolution, baselines verification, asbuilt control and inspections. Establishment of configuration control methods, procedures and standards Establishing andor assuring that adequate configuration control methods, procedures and standards are established andor maintained, consistent with applicable standardsrequirements Preparing formal requirements for inclusion in industrial contracts. Participating in Project Reviews. Conducting configuration audits and configuration inspections Supervising the processing and disposition of Change Requests andor Change Proposals Providing status data and maintaining a well structured record system acting as secretary to appropriate Boards established for the processing of changes Establishing and maintaining the approval system for all documents under formal ESA control, and maintaining the associated DRLs and DRDs Supporting the supervision and maintenance of the documentation library and archives Proposing automated methods and tools required to increase performance of configuration and documentation control tasks. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required High level of initiate autonomy, and professional maturity that is required to carry out complex tasks and high level of responsibility.
