Apparel exports from Sri Lanka have clearly declined in the first months of 2017 to both EU and US markets. Shipments have however recovered in April, ahead of the implementation of a restored duty-free access to the EU's territory for most clothing categories under the GSP-Plus regime. Our statistical tables provide a comprehensive view of latest export trends with export data over first half 2011-2016. Detailed EU and US import data per category of products over 1st half 2016 are also available.

Apparel exports from Sri Lanka have stagnated in the last year, reflecting a surge in sales of knit clothing, especially underwear, whereas shipments of woven apparel were struggling. Exports should now be boosted by the EU's decision to grant GSP-Plus preferential access to Sri Lankan products.
