Detailed technical planning of software production and validation activities Instruction, training and control of each team member to perform the assigned production and validation activities Tracking of completion status and initiation of corrective action to stay within cost, schedule and quality perimeters Technical contribution to software production and validation in critical areas Building of software version images for delivery to validation, AIT and customer teams Ensure identification of deviations of test results from agreed requirement baselines and raise of software modification requests to the software development team Elaboration of software production and validation documents according to agreed project standards Presenting and defending the production and validation activities results in milestone reviews with the customer Degree in information technology, electrial engineering or similar Planning and coordination experience for embedded SW coding andor validation activities preferred in avionics or space projects Several years experience in software production in C, C programming language and software validation according to Vmodel Sound experience in embedded software development and validation methodologies and technologies, preferred as a senior developer or software architect Development environment and tools for embedded software development Knowledge of typical software architecture and applications in satellite projects would be an advantage Experience with realtime operating systems preferred RTEMS Good communications skills in an international environment, written and verbal Structured, analytical working style English and German fluent negotiation level TO APPLY click here

A vacancy has arisen for a Lead Software Architect with Astrium in Stevenage, to work within the Data Processing On Board Software Department for the Solar Orbiter. The Solar Orbiter mission, developed by ESA in collaboration with NASA, is designed to carry an extensive complement of scientific instruments to the nearsun environment and will be able to provide unique insights in the workings of our sun. The department is responsible for the On Board Software design, development and verification and the direct monitoring of the Independent Software Validation Verification ISVV. As such, the Software Architect is responsible for ensuring all software development activities are properly coordinated across the whole project, that agreed schedule are maintained, and that all activities are successfully completed within the defined budgets. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Monitoring and reporting of progress and status of all software related activities to Solar Orbiter project management team and the department management team. Coengineering discussions with other system architects Functional Validation, Thermal, AOCS etc. in order to shape software requirements cost and schedule to meet project needs. Management and coordination on project basis of a small team of Software Architects working on the Solar Orbiter project. Organising software technical meetings and teleconferences. Technical definition and review of all inputs to the software development team Astrium internal Software Department, plus some contractors. Notably collection, consolidation of all software user requirements. Identification of data interface exchange needs and software interfaces with the other projects components. Supervision of the overall cycle of the software development and verification specification, design, coding, unit tests, integration tests, verification tests. Preparation and supporting of all related reviews with ESA. Defining the maintenance concepts for the software. In coordination with the Engineering team of the projects, managing the changes of the software requirements through the software life cycle, defining the new versions of the software and the schedulecosts consequences. In coordination with the project anomalies manager and the software QA, managing the anomalies found in the software through the software life cycle, defining the new versions of the software and the schedulecosts consequences. Controlling project budget and schedule, defining risks and risks mitigation strategies. ISVV technical subcontracts management technical review of the ISVV subcontractors inputs, outputs and coordination control of ISVV feedback to the software subcontractors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline Extensive experience of the full Software Development Lifecycle Experience of writing software requirements, design and verificationvalidationtesting Design of complex systems using embedded software Experience of managing team members and subcontractors Knowledge of Embedded C Knowledge of DOORS Experience of working within the Space Aerospace or related industry TO APPLY click here
