Communications Systems Manager REF. VN1327 Managing the Communications Systems team within our Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division, you will drive forward multiple projects to support diverse user requirements and ever increasing operational needs. In particular, you will assume responsibility for the continued availability of the operational communications systems and WAN services, embracing the ownership of service and maintenance contracts for the complete communication infrastructure. At the same time, you will deliver design solutions and upgrades to a well documented baseline, whilst ensuring close monitoring and swift troubleshooting of our networks, so you will require exceptional technical aptitude. Highly experienced in supporting largescale networks and communication systems within an operational environment, you will ideally join us from a space system or ground segment background. Notably, you will bring wideranging LAN and WAN architecture and maintenance expertise, ideally on Cisco equipment. Finally, you should be well versed in satellite communication systems, network security, encryption technologies, network management protocols, and you will combine proven ability to manage external contracts with excellent interpersonal and people management skills. Primary purpose of role Based in Los Angeles at the spacecraft manufacturer plant, you will be required to join a team responsible for the procurement of the Inmarsat 5 F4 satellite. Reporting to Massimiliano Ladovaz, Vice President, Space Infrastructure Development, the role will be responsible for supervising the contractor, to ensure the design, engineering, manufacturing and testing of the communications payload systems of the Inmarsat 5 F4 spacecraft are to the required quality standard, within specifications and delivered within the planned time frame. The responsibilities will also include operational support to the satellite operation department in London. Key responsibilities Integrate with the contractor teams, to lead and coordinate the design of payload systems. Participate and lead communications in payload systems, manufacturing, test and delivery reviews. Supervise the assembly integration and testing of the payload systems. Manage contractor for timely resolution of the communications payload systems technical, and schedule problems. Report issues and contractual conflicts affecting satisfactory problem resolution Essential knowledge and skills Electronics Engineering graduate or equivalent with proven experience in the field of communications spacecraft payload systems. Experience in production and testing of space qualified payload systems hardware. Experience in communications payload systems performance modelling. Experience in spacecraft integration and testing. Excellent writing and reporting skills.
