One of our clients in Belgium is looking for a fulltime, Senior Mechanical Engineer to aid the company is the designing of instruments and to take over the supervision of engineers working on various projects. Tasks Thermal design of space instruments within boundaries of thermal environment, mass, volume and power constraints in a vacuum environment. Active participation to all design phases including concept definition and elaboration, environment definition, thermal models generation, thermal analysis, detailed design, component selection, follow up with suppliers, testing. Supervision of a small team of engineers. Reporting to the Project Systems Engineer. Participate to the generation formal review technical data packages. Qualifications Recognized Mechanical Engineering degree Demonstrated 10 years experience performing thermal analysis and thermal design for optical space instruments. Knowledge Space project experience, preferably with ESA. Experience with space optical instrument system development life cycle, phases, reviews and deliverables. Knowledge of Space Engineering ECSS standards. Knowledge of ESATANTMS and other thermal SW packages is a must. Skills Good English skills. Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people. Able to perform effectively under high workloads and be able to adapt to a rapidlychanging timecritical environment. Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen. Work in teams and good interpersonal skills to coordinate with team leaders and key stakeholders as well as in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Work proactively with capability to lead a small team, with the minimum of supervision.
