Engineer, IT Networks Luxembourg ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The position is directly responsible for the design, analysis and implementation of IT solutions within SES, and affiliated companies, as well as for IT project support within the organization and customer related projects. The incumbent will execute projects in the networking field, with regard to timely task and project implementation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Design, implement, maintain and enhance the global SES IT Infrastructure using industry best practices innovation as well as SES IT defined architecture standards and guidelines Networking LAN WAN DNS Wireless Datacenter with strong focus on Cisco IP voice and video Performance management and monitoring tools Other relevant networking devices and systems Design and enhance back end user authentication systems RADIUS, TACACS, LDAP Act as the interface between the executing party IT and the internal andor external customers Ensure maturity improvement and adherence ofto all IT service management processes, including change management Devise and maintain standards and standard operating procedures Design, implement and operate IT based network systems based on current technologies Proactively recommend solutions modifications of the existing environment in order to secure SES operational assets, in particular the satellite operations environment Provide inputs to department heads for administrative and management tasks Provide support to internal and external customers for clarification of technical matters and the resolution of technical issues Provide general engineering support to other sections in the operational, engineering sales and business development area Provide effective third level support Responsible for the creation of the budget inputs for annual budgets Liaise with equipment suppliers and recommend cost effective solutions and ongoing maintenance arrangements Provide other engineering or project management tasks as assigned Actively participate in Problem tickets when required Work actively with the incident management tool Creation of Incident Reports for major incidents Work actively with the Operations Team to help create troubleshooting procedures for common issues Help create knowledge base articles for common issues and for user selfhelp portal Effectively hand off completed projects to the SES IT Operations team and train them on the new systems if required Be willing to learn new technologies Oncall duty as required COMPETENCIES Ability to learn new technologies quickly and to stay uptodate with stateoftheart networking concepts and technologies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Selfmotivating with proven ability to deliver on complex and time critical tasksprojects Good project management and organization skills Ability to explain technical rationales to nontechnical audiences Ability to understand business requirements and work towards solutions, both autonomous and in teams Excellent team player and ability to work in international and interdisciplinary teams Excellent communication skills, ability to establish wellwritten, structured documents e.g. designs and infrastructure documentation QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Master or Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology or similar Minimum five years of applicable professional experience in a large heterogeneous environment Vendor certifications Cisco preferred Good communication skills and teamspirit Sound proven experience with voice over IP and WiFi Sound technical understanding of the IT landscape and related technical skills Understanding of Information Security Excellent knowledge in network communication concepts and principles, including routing and switching Sound understanding and experience with network protocolstechnologies such as IPv4, IPv6, TCPIP, HTTPS, SSL, IPsec, 802.1x, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, SpanningTree and the ability to perform troubleshooting of networks and associated devices Fluency in English, any other language is considered as an asset Willingness to travel internationally OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS COMMENTS Key performance indicators Availability measures of technology under responsibility Average time to implement changes over period Main interfaces to other departments Technical Departments management requirements Security function Internal and external customers Architecture and Demand Management Business IT Network operations function Volume drivers Number of networks to support Number of service and change requests Technology changes e.g. new tools and systems Specific projects Deployment of new hardware and software solutions within the functional scope Consolidation of existing network implementations and solutions throughout SES Improvement of the end user experience New network technology introduction Policy implementation CoBIT, ITIL, Security and other IT related Change management Design and implementation of new global network infrastructure SES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
