Cotton yarn prices are further dropping in China, in line with a weakness in demand from downward processors. Ambient pessimism in China should further depress prices with production being also reduced in the comig period until the end of Chinese holidays. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton yarn prices have been slightly increased in the last seven days in India whatever the fall of cotton fiber prices. Spinners are trying to restore their gross margins whereas a new rebound of the rupee is raising export prices in dollar terms. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

After experiencing a strong volatility this year, cotton prices are now stabilized and should not dramatically move until after Christmas holidays. Cotton prices could rebound in 2019, with China expected to return back to the international market. However, global use could be lower than currently expected.
