Nitronex LLC of Morrisville, NC, USA, which designs and makes gallium nitride on silicon (GaN-on-Si)-based RF power transistors for the defense, communications, broadband, and industrial markets, has launched the NPA1006, a 28V, 20MHz-1GHz, 15W broadband GaN amplifier with 14dB gain and 60% drain efficiency housed in an industry-standard 6mm by 5mm DFN plastic package.

Supplied in thru-hole packages with respective dimensions of 35.5 x 25.4 mm and 25.4 x 25.4 mm, VN01 and VN03 series serve such applications as satellite communications and military systems in operating environments that experience temperatures up to +90°C. Both of these Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) series have 5–100 MHz frequency range and double-hermetically sealed quartz crystal. Earlier this year, Elbit Systems of America, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., was awarded a contract for TC-100L amplifiers as part of a weight reduction initiative for the US Army's OH-58 Kiowa Warrior. Deliveries of the TC-100L SATCOM amplifiers are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013.
