For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Senior Satellite Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The key person shall be integrated into the Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the Copernicus Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Manager, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. The 3 key persons shall be primarily assigned to Satellite system operations SSOE, covering all satellite and system FOSPDGS components aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument data handling, instrument parameter and OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects for the management of encryption and authentication functions Satellite platform operations PSOE, covering all satellite and system FOS components aspects related to the operation engineering for PowerThermal, propulsion and AOCSDORISGNSS, TT C, TXA and data handling subsystem Satellite instruments operations ISOE, covering all satellite and system FOSPDGS components aspects related to the operation engineering for OLCI, MWR, SRAL, SLSTR, DORIS and GNSS instruments. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for Sentinel3B and for the recurrent mission with respect to their related activities. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of Sentinel 3A, and preparing for Sentinel3B compnsmg Provision of operational expertise to their relevant system in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground Segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Post launch Support Office PLSO in ESTEC and space industry Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of sentinel3 C and D satellites Provide inputs and I or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on relevant systems of their work assignment relevance Experience of at least 5 years of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3 axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of at least 3 years of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. The key person will be in charge of the definition of the overall operational concept from the interface with industry up to the uplink of the new software images to the satellites. Heshe will produce the OBSW Ops Guide and related operation procedures. Heshe will be responsible for the end to end operational concept to manage reference and characterisation Databases being delivered to EUMETSAT. This also includes operational interfaces with industry. The key person will define for each type of database its life cycle and configuration control for operation usage. The key person will manage the Operational database against changes to successive Satellite Reference Databases deliveries. Heshe will provide a single interface within OPIT for the Satellite and Instrument Characteristic Databases and support FDF and PDAP experts for their respective Databases.
