Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineer Junior

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineer Junior. Tasks and Responsibilities You will be integrated into the Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the Copernicus Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Manager, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. Your tasks will typically include Support to the commissioning and routine operations of Sentinel 3A, and preparing for Sentinel3B comprising Provision of operational expertise to their relevant system platform or instrument in particular, with support to other platform subsystems and or payload instruments and or onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Post launch Support Office PLSO in ESTEC and space industry Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystems instruments Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of sentinel3 C and D satellites Provide inputs and I or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites. Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel6 development. Requirements Essentials In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you should have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on relevant Systems of their work assignment relevance Experience of at least 2 years of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of at least 1 year of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. Good communication skills would be also an advantage. You should be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable. Desirables Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for you to have experience with some of the following Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, A WK Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Airtel, Axiata to merge operations in Sri Lanka - report

(Telecompaper) Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel is in talks to merge its Sri Lanka unit into Dialog Axiata. The transactions involves a share-swap deal, ET reports, citing two unnamed people familiar with the matter. A potential Airtel Lanka-Dialog Axiata merger will be similar to the recent merger of Bharti Airtel and Axiata's telecom units in Bangladesh. Axiata will be the dominant shareholder and Airtel a strategic minority holder in the combined entity, the same sources added.
