A vacancy for an EGNOS V3 NLES and RIMS Performance Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Ottobrunn. The successful applicant will join Navigation Products. What can you expect? You will contribute to the ongoing deployment phase of EGNOS V3, the European satellite based augmentation system for GPS and Galileo by characterising the RIMS Monitoring Station and NLES Uplink Station performance and monitoring the proper implementation of these stations by the suppliers. In that role you have to proactively interface with the RIMS and NLES suppliers as well as the system performance engineers. You will join the Airbus Navigation Department. With more than 60 engineers and almost 20 years of experience it is one of the leading expert groups in Europe for the development and implementation of the European satellite navigation systems EGNOS and Galileo. In your daily activities you can expect Monitoring and challenging of the proper implementation of the RIMS and NLES specifications by the suppliers Characterizing the RIMS and NLES performances as achieved by the implemented RIMS and NLES incl. characterization of RIMS and NLES environment used as input for EGNOS V3 system performance analysis Maintaining and updating RIMS and NLES specifications as needed to support EGNOS V3 system performance analysis this includes survey of specifications provided by the customer e.g. scintillation specifications, RIMS and NLES RFI environment specifications, User Rx standards e.g. new L5 DFMC SBAS MOPS Presentation of results in front of the customer and the suppliers What are we looking for?As a general qualification we expect You are educated to a masters degree in an Engineering discipline such as Navigation, Telecommunication, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Geodesy, Geoinformatics, or equivalent The network of the RIMS monitoring stations and the NLES uplink stations form an essential part of the EGNOS ground system driving the overall EGNOS system performances. With regard to the offered position in the context of the current phase CD i.e. implementation and deployment for successful working skills from three different fields are necessary You should have a deep understanding of GNSS receiver and RF technologies You should be able to anticipate the overall EGNOS system performance needs on these elements and translate them into RIMS and NLES performance requirements You should be able to challenge the RIMS and NLES suppliers In more detail the following qualifications and experiences are considered essential for successful working You have a deep understanding of GNSS Rx and TX related technology used in GNSS ground systems and in GNSS uplink systems, e.g. RFequipment GNSS signal generator, GNSS receiver, RFswitch, amplifier, splitter, usage of external frequency standards i.e. atomic clocks and antennas You have a deep understanding of signal processing inside GNSS Rx e.g. signal acquisition and tracking You do understand GNSS signal error contributors e.g. hardwareinduced, multipath, radiofrequency interference, ionospheric scintillation, jamming, spoofing and mitigation techniques You are able to and experience in derivation of, implementation and maintenance of requirements e.g. usage of SW tools like DOORS You have knowledge of relevant GNSS Rx standards e.g. GNSS ICDs, IGS data formats, e.g. RINEX You have knowledge on hardware assembly, integration and test AIT You are experienced in MATLAB, C andor C and usage in complex analysis environment e.g. analysis of Rx data for larger networks 5080 and large amounts of data daysmonths You have good communication and negotiation skills Please apply for this vacancy at our careers site www.jobs.airbusgroup.com with your CV attached. A vacancy for a EGNOS NLES RIMS Performance Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Munich Ottobrunn. The successful applicant will join TSEIG4 Navigation Products. Position pending on successful contract award to Airbus for EGNOS V3 phase CD. EGNOS is a satellite based European augmentation system for GPS signals and the upcoming European Navigation system Galileo. Currently the next generation EGNOS V3 is under development. The Ranging and Integrity Monitoring Stations RIMS are a central element of the SpaceBased Augmentation System SBAS like EGNOS to generate the SBAS message contents used for Open Service and SafetyofLife applications. The Navigation Land Earth Stations NLES are the uplink stations of EGNOS and in charge of disseminating the data to the users within the service area. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Monitoring the proper implementation of the RIMS and NLES specifications imposed by system Characterizing the RIMS and NLES performances as achieved by the implemented RIMS and NLES incl. characterization of RIMS and NLES environment used as input for system performance analysis Maintaining and updating RIMS and NLES specifications as needed to support system performance analysis this includes survey of specifications provided as CFI by the customer e.g. scintillation specifications, RIMS and NLES RFI environment specifications, User Rx standards e.g. new L5 DFMC SBAS MOPS, survey of NLES specification provided by the Customer. In that role the RIMS and NLES performance engineer has to proactively interface with the RIMS and NLES subsystem developers as well as the system performance engineers. For successful working the RIMS and NLES performance engineer must be able to anticipate the system performance needs and translate them into RIMS and NLES performance requirements. The three suspects, Wesley Tyler, 32, of St James , Tyler McDonald, 19, of Farmingville , and Joseph Clarke, 23, of East Patchogue face burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, auto-stripping and other charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

RIMS community service volunteers put 'new' into New Orleans

More than 100 attendees of this year's Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.'s conference in New Orleans took part in the society's Community Service Day on Sunday, helping to rebuild and paint five homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina almost 10 years ago. The risk professionals teamed up with the St. Bernard Project, a Chalmette, Louisiana-based nonprofit that provides resources and help to communities affected by natural disasters that was started by lawyer Zack Rosenburg and teacher Liz McCartney, who moved back to Louisiana from Washington after they saw the devastation caused by the hurricane.
