KPN successfully tests 5G network between Rotterdam and the Hague

(Telecompaper) KPN said it has successfully tested its 5G network between different locations in the Netherlands. The company made phone and video calls and held data sessions between its 5G FieldLab in the Port of Rotterdam and its Technology Lab in The Hague, using the 3.5 GHz spectrum band. The tests were made using a number of 5G smartphones, namely the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Huawei Mate 20 X and an Oppo Reno 5G. A 10 GBps transmission network was used for the connection and a download speed of 1.3 Gbps was achieved with one of the smartphones.

KPN is introducing an improved TV receiver and remote control from October 1. The TV receiver is based on Broadcom's 72604B0 chipset and is suitable for 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos. The remote control now has Bluetooth functionality.

(Telecompaper) MasMovil was the biggest winner in Europe's telecoms sector, last week, up 22 percent. Our European Telecoms Services index closed week 40 with a small loss of 0.8 percent, beating the EuroStoxx 50 index which was down 2.8 percent. The weakest stocks included micro caps Forthnet, down 11 percent, and Go Internet, losing 8.6% after reporting its H1 results.
KPN names new CEO, changes CFO and expands management team

(Telecompaper) KPN has named a new CEO, after withdrawing the appointment of Proximus CEO Dominique Leroy. COO Joost Farwerk, named temporary chairment of the management board and executive committee in September, will now lead the company. KPN also named a new CFO, Chris Figee, who will be joining from ASR Netherlands. KPN said the new team will ensure the company is on track for its 2019-2021 strategy. The new CEO said he will focus primarily on that strategy, and on seeing how it can deliver "even more" organic sustainable growth.
