As part of the Satellite User Control Ground System CoC unit, the Image Chain department carries out research and development activities related to the entire image processing chains of future observation systems. In this context, you will perform image processing activities, either in RD or for projects led by the department. The concerned fields of activity, depending on project opportunities, will include Researching image processing developing algorithms filtering, deconvolution, restoration, compression, motion estimation and image quality and simulation software Contributing to the development of Observation System simulation and image simulation tools Analysing the performance of imaging systems developing assessments and analysing the impact of processing on the system design Preparing processing specifications for their implementation by a third parties Developing some operational software for image processing or telemetry Depending on project opportunities, you will be in charge of the following activities Researchingprototyping ground or onboard image processing algorithms Specifying or developing operational software Some business trips may be required in the context of demonstrations, conferences, user support, etc. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience engineering diploma or university equivalent Masters degree in the field of applied mathematics, signal processing and IT. first experience in these fields and in software development. knowledge or experience in C and Matlab languages. knowledge in image and signal processing. interest in algorithmic design and the developmentintegration of software, You are meticulous and have an analytical mindset, You are able to take the initiative and work autonomously, you are able to integrate into a team and adapt easily and you have good interpersonal skills, negotiation level of English, French would be an asset. For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Data Processing Image Quality Assessment Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key person shall work as a member of the Image Quality Assessment Team supporting the mediumterm and longterm monitoring, operation and further development of Level 1 data processing systems. The Key person shall support the quality assessment and validation of the Level 1 image products for current and future GEO missions but will also provide support to current and future LEO missions in this area. The tasks of the Key person will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Monitoring the mediumterm to longterm performance of Level 1 data processing systems, including the performance of their algorithms, and monitoring the quality of the generated Level 1 image products Developing and maintaining image quality assessment software, including the specification, verification and validation testing of software developments Supporting the further development of the MSG Level 1 data processing system, including the specification, verification and validation testing of system updates Supporting the investigation and correction of anomalies related to the performance of the MSGMTP Level 1 data processing systems Supporting the preparations for future GEO and LEO missions in the area of image quality assessment Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have Extensive theoretical knowledge of Level 1 data processing algorithms for image navigation, registration and calibration and the techniques used for assessing the geometric and radiometric quality of Level 1 image products A minimum of 3 years experience in specifying, prototyping, verifying and validating Level 1 data processing algorithms A minimum of 3 years experience in the processing and analysis of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating remote sensing products and complex remote sensing data processing systems. Software engineering, in particular in algorithm software development, in a Unix environment using CC, and ideally also Python and MatlabIDL Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification.
