System Engineering Support mf

LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of System Engineering Support for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The position will support to assist the Low Earth Orbit LEO Division performing system engineering and design activities. The position requires expert knowledge in several system engineering areas and disciplines covering requirements, architectural design and detailed definition of subsystems, and their functions, performance, interfaces and operations activities. The Key person will carry out tasks which support activities typically related to Phase BC of a space programme in the area of system design engineering and architecture definition. The Key person will work within the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. The Key person will perform system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance Functional analysis and architecture design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques Subsegment components specification Interface and data structures and flows definition Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The actual work will be released and defined in terms of scope, period, tasks, and deliverables in individual Work Packages. Qualifications Experience Knowledge and experience with the following is considered mandatory Extensive System Engineering life cycle experience for the development of remote sensing and Earth observation systems At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design ISO, Software development, and Space and Ground System engineering processes and standards. Experience in Model Based System engineering methods, techniques and tools Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE Knowledge and experience with the following is considered an advantage Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Good knowledge of at least 2 of the following and an overview of the others i Networking Communications, ii Ground Stations, iii Near RealTime Data Processing, iv Monitoring and control of satellites, v Monitoring and control of ground systems Data communication networks and protocols. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The Key person shall be in possession of sound interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. Academic and work related requirements A University degree in an engineering discipline is required. Perfect command of English, verbal and written. Knowledge of French would be an asset. The engineer will be integrated in the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is responsible for the maintenance and development of Spacecraft Monitoring Control, Local Applications Monitoring Control, Onboard software management, Flight Dynamics System, Mission Planning System, OpsPrep Tools, Data analysis and reporting tools, Spacecraft Simulator. The team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Applications and Tools for GEO and LEO missions. Software engineering for the reuse of Mission Control Applications and Tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Integration and verification at application and system level. User and software support to flight control teams. Support to the EUMETSAT Programme Preparation and Development PRD Department for the PhaseBCD of new missions in the domain of Mission Control Applications. Required Skills and Experience University degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience minimum 3 years in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in the telemetry and commanding chains, archive and automation components is considered mandatory. Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development of Mission Control Applications following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design, implementation, corrective and evolutive maintenance activities. Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities for Mission Control Applications following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking.
