Zentrale Verantwortung fr die Arbeitspakete Satellitenenergieversorgung und EMV Elektromagnetische Vertrglichkeit und die zugehrigen Elemente Gerte und Ausrstungen, Teilsysteme, Analysen und Dokumentation in den Programmphasen BCD innerhalb der Projektteams und gegenber von Kunden und Partnern Analyse der durch die KundenMissionen gestellten Anforderungen und Aufschlsselung in Anforderungen der Teilsysteme Definition von EMVAnforderungen auf allen Ebenen vom System bis zu den relevanten Systemkomponenten, Durchfhrung bzw. Koordination der entsprechenden Analysen Definition funktionaler und elektrischer Architekturen und Anforderungen, Durchfhrung bzw. Koordination der Definition von Systemkomponenten wie z. B. der Energieversorgungseinheit PCDU Power Control Distribution Unit, Solargeneratoren, Batterien, ggf. weiterer Energieversorgungsgerte z.B. IPDU Instrument Power Distribution Unit nach Bedarf CoEngineering mit den Lieferanten in obigen techn. We seek a candidate for a postion located at ESAC European Space Astronomy Centre in Villanueva de la Caada Madrid. Job Description The objective is to lead the efforts to document the Herschel Data Processing system, keeping up with software, product and calibration changes. Documentation covers the Herschel Interactive Processing Environment HIPE offline documentation, online WWW and TWiki documentation, video tutorials and podcasts and the HIPE Twitter. This software and documentation is developed jointly between ESA, the instrument teams and the NASA Herschel Science Centre, with ESA in charge of the overall coordination. The Herschel Data Processing System is distributed to the astronomical community. Specific tasks beyond the general duties of a technical writer are Maintenance and development of HIPE documentation in DocBook. Coordination of Editorial Board activities. Organisation of telecons and facetoface meetings. Liaising with the developer of the help system. Steering and prioritising development according to user needs. Maintenance and development of documentation on the HSC TWiki. This includes documentation aimed at internal developers, other members of the Editorial Board and external users and contributors. Development and maintenance of Known Issues and Whats New pages for each HIPE version. Maintenance of the HIPE Community Wiki. Monitoring and replying to user comments on HIPE documentation pages and Wiki pages. Maintenance of the learnhipe Twitter account. Development of video tutorials and maintenance of the HIPE Academy YouTube channel. Specific tasks requirements for this position Technical writing, software development and engineering. Specific qualification requirements A university degree in computer science, physics, signal processing, or equivalent. Specific knowledge is required in the following areas At least five years relevant experience in technical writing and software engineering coding Java applications Ability to write clear, concise and correct English. Very good communication and interpersonal skills. Some team leading skills Good knowledge of DocBook. Good knowledge of Java and Jython. Experience writing content for Wikis, in particular TWiki. Experience developing video tutorials. Knowledge of video recording software such as Camtasia Studio Working knowledge of CVS. Some knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is desirable Some knowledge to develop under UNIX based systems Linux. Knowledge of other operating systems is an advantage Experience in scientificastronomical data reduction systems is an advantage Experience data reduction algorithms is an advantage Experience in interacting with instrument and calibration scientists and the science community is an advantage. The selected contractors must be willing operate in a team environment and to travel. The contractor should be used to working independently in a focussed way against tight deadlines. The contractor should be used to paying attention to details. The contractor should be comfortable in an international working environment and must be fluent in English, one of the official languages of ESA. Scope The MTG Ground Segment System Engineer is sought to support ground segmentrelated activities for the phase CD of the MTG programme. The phase CD has started since the completion of the ground segment Preliminary Design Review May 2012 and is completing at the Qualification Review presently planned mid2018. The duties range from specification, analysis, design, build, deployment and subsequent verification. The activities for this consultancy relate to the ground segment, consisting of the data acquisition systems, monitoring and control systems, data processing and archiving facilities product dissemination facilities and the encompassing network elements. The MTG Ground Segment System Engineer will perform typical system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics Integration and verification, which final objective is to demonstrate that the deliverables conform to the specified requirements. Profile MANDATORY SKILLS The MTG Ground Segment System Engineer shall have the following experience and background University degree or equivalent in the domain of engineering or science At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of spacerelated ground systems, including good experience in any two of i Networking Communications, ii Ground Stations, iii Near RealTime Data Processing, iv Monitoring and control of satellites, v Monitoring and control of ground systems and an overview of the other three items Experience in systemlevel analyses from an endtoend perspective, understanding relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects and presenting the results in a comprehensible way Experience in preparation of system requirements and design documentation Experience in the integration and verification of such systems.
