Central responsibility for the work packages Power Engineering and Electro Magnetic Compatibility EMC and the related items equipment, subsystems, analyses and documentation in space programs Phases BCD within the projects teams and visvis customers and partners Analysis of the customers mission requirements and breakdown to the functional chains requirements of the subsystems Definition of the EMCRFC requirements on all levels from system to relevant system components equipment, performance or coordination of the related analyses Definition of the functional and electrical power architectures and requirements, performance or coordination of the related analyses Definition of the system components such as Power Control and Distribution Unit PCDU Solar Array Batteries Other power equipment e.g. the Instrument Power Distribution Unit as required Coengineering with the suppliers for power and EMC matters, coordination of the relevant design and MAIT activities Support of the own team members and other disciplines for Power Engineering and EMC matters Support of the system operations and AIT Participation to the related internal and external RD and improvements standardisation initiatives We are looking for candidates with the following skills Degree in Engineering Electrical Engineering or equivalent Extensive hardware design and test in particular power electronics, RF and EMC experience is an asset English and German fluent negotiation level TO APPLY click here

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Manager with Astrium Satellites in Stevenage. The successful candidate will support the Assembly, Integration and Testing of Prime Science Projects including BepiColumbo, Solar Orbiter and LISA Pathfinder. You will be responsible for the allocation of operational Mechanical team resources across projects, and overseeing the development and deployment of mechanical Integration and test methods and processes across projects. You will be responsible for managing a team of mechanical AIT engineers, carrying out appraisals, administration, training and recruitment of new staff. You may also support technical discussions around all mechanical aspects across projects. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Overseeing the development and deployment of mechanical Integration and test methods and processes across projects Implement best industry practices Work closely with management team and HR function on organisational design in order to assess skills and training needs, workforce and succession planning Responsible for the Mechanical Assembly, Integration and Testing element and lead the Mechanical team on projects through phases A,B , CD and E Produce specs from test requirements, write test plans, test procedures and test reports Logistics control of all project Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, flight hardware and support equipment Alignment producing test procedures and operating and maintaining Optical alignment equipment Designing of test equipment, overseeing its manufacture, and commissioning Mechanical handling of Spacecraft, Instruments, payloads, solar arrays, antenna etc. Prepare and carry out environmental tests Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal at unit, subsystem, instrument and spacecraft level. Install and validate test instrumentation. Thermocouples, accelerometer, tilt sensors Support propulsion testing Handling and installation of thermal hardware Mechanical integration and testing of electronic units, subsystems and instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical subsystems, instruments, payloads and spacecraft and control the documentation associated with performing these tasks. Pyrotechnic handling, installation and safety The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline Extensive experience of working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within Aerospacedefence industries Good knowledge of Mechanical build and testing Recent people management experience and proven leadership abilities as well as a track record of performance management Production of high quality documentation test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising and organising workload effectively, and working to strict deadlines Excellent clear communication to all interfaces Willingness to travel overseas to support operations Desirable Experience of producing test procedures and operating and maintain Opticaling alignment equipment TO APPLY click here

Engineering Operations Coordinator

Astrium Services Government Communications is the worlds leading commercial provider of militarygrade satellite communications. EADS the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. The EADS Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the worlds largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and EADS Astrium, the European leader in space programmes from Ariane to Galileo. Government Communications is the prime contractor for the Skynet 5 contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, signed in October 2003, valued at 3.6bn. The programme provides mobile voice, video, internet and broadcast communications for the UK armed forces, as well as a range of other Government departments and agencies. GC own, manage and operate the Skynet 5 satellite system, and are responsible for delivering the service, controlling the satellite, managing the network and implementing all upgrades throughout its life. From the outset GC designed Skynet 5 to be large enough and capable enough to provide military satellite services to a range of other countries and organisations. These include NATO and the armed forces of the Netherlands, Portugal, Canada, France and Germany. A vacancy has arisen for an Engineering Operations Coordinator with Astrium Services Government Communications, based in either Stevenage or Hawthorn, Corsham. The Engineering Operation Coordinator role sits within the UK Engineering team. The role is primarily focused on the process management and support of the day to day activities associated with two key business processes 1. Design Review process and 2. Patch and AntiVirus Management process. The successful applicant will provide support to the management process marshalling requirements and documentation, tracking and reporting, organising reviews, minutes and actions. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Patch Management Identify and analyse patch notifications and alerts for all software across the PSL networks Recording of all Operating Systems, Applications, Utilities and firmware that will require patch updates Tracking of all alerts mapped against the relevant network segments Recording of all Patching decisions made across the network To work with the segment primes and leaders across the network in reviewing patches and timely decision making To support the assessment of criticality of the patches across each of the segments The production of a regular summary report for the Patch Management Board of the status of all decisions made with respect to both Patches and AntiVirus files To work with the Technical Security Manager in the identification of security related patches, and the suitable consideration by all stakeholders Administration of the Patch Management Board review itself The identification of process improvements and issue resolutions Design Review Organising the Design Reviews including booking of meeting facilities where required Provision of the material for review as provided by the lead engineer responsible Taking of minutes and actions during the reviews Follow up on gating actions Production of the Design Review Certificate Ensuring that signed off documents are stored appropriately The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject Experience in the management of MOD projects A detailed understanding of appropriate Policy Documentation associated with the provision and management of satellite services Experience of Complex Patch Management and AntiVirus management systems and processes, both in their use and structure Ability to assess and analyse complex data and deduce patterns in the data Ability to produce and present the analysis, conclusions and recommendations to a variety of audiences Ability to conclude and finish on initiatives and projects Ability to manage own time and deal with urgent requests TO APPLY click here
