This could be your future. Become part of our successful team! Specific tasks to be performed The incumbent will work in the Life support and Physical Sciences Instrumentation Section in ESAESTEC. The main focus of our work is sustainable life support technologies, In Situ Resource Utilisation and small payload development for manned and unmanned spaceflight. The incumbent will Implement and supervise RD activities in the field of sustainable life support technologies e.g. MELiSSA, with a specific focus on bioreactors, biochemical processes characterisation, modelling and development Supervise the development of technology demonstrators on board ISS and follow up of operations over its life cycle Implement and supervise RD activities in the area of In Situ Resource Utilisation Provide project support for manned spaceflight and scientific experiments onboard the ISS Provide support to the management of the MELiSSA project, technical and scientific coordination with MELiSSA partners. General tasks to be performed Assistance in the provision of specific engineering support to ESA projects Provision of support in detailed technical specification of planned RD activities Assistance in the technical evaluation of development results, as well as designs from projects Conceptual planning and implementation of test setups in the microgravity laboratory Planning, settingup and execution of test activities in the laboratory Analysis, evaluation, reporting and interpretation of data of biological or physiological experiments Support of Breadboard testing and sample evaluation for Life Support activities. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required PhD or Master in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology applied Microbiology or Physics Experience in specification, engineering and analysis of chemical and biochemical processes, knowledge of plantfood production Experience in multiphases processes characterisation and engineering is an asset Project skills, Management of RD contracts, academic and industrial experience Knowledge of space systems engineering is an asset Good interpersonal communication skills, team oriented. Responsibilities Duties Tasks Our subsidiary CS GmbH, located in Darmstadt, is looking for a Software Engineer. The key person will be assigned as consultant at our customer premises at Darmstadt. The key person will integrate a team of software engineers under the direction of the project manager in CS GmbH. This activity includes, among others, the following tasks Support mission control systems for various ESA missions based on S2K e.g. Aeolus MCS, BIOMASS MCS, FLEX MCS Migration of EO missions to EGOSCC and preparation of future EO EGOSCC missions Support to RD activities Support to technical meetings with customers Intensive test and validation activities Requirements Any knowledge and experience in ESOC software development or maintenance in the space environment would be an important asset. Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS Deployment Engineering Support

Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled Galileo Ground Control Segment GCS Deployment engineering support who will work for ESA, at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. SPECIFIC TASKS The general responsibilities of the service will be onsite support in the Galileo Control Centre located in Germany, GCCD in the area of Galileo Control Segment GCS with focus on deployments, test and verification, evolutions as well as service continuity. Task 1 assess the operational impact of segment anomalies raised as SPRs, NCRs and ARs. Follow up the closure of GCS related anomalies as part of the Anomaly Review Boards and Nonconformance Review Boards, both at segment level internal and resulting from systemOPS activities external, ensuring that critical issues are solved with maximum priority and any Workarounds are duly qualified. Task 2 support the planning and preparation of the deployment, and OPE migration activities through review of the associated deployment migration plans and CCRs. Provide duly comments in relation to the review schedules, follow up the timely execution of the activities and report on the progress. Support the planning of GCS Delivery Review Boards DRB and their associated test campaigns. Task 3 support the preparation of and follow up the daytoday GCS AIV activities at GCCD liaising with the ESA GCS AIV Manager, WP3X industry and WP1X industry. Review of AIV documentation RVM, Test Cases, Test Procedures, Test reports etc, especially those related to Site AIV activities and provide duly comments in line with the review schedules. This includes attendance of TRRs, witnessing of test execution, review of test results and follow up the timely delivery of test logs from GSAGSOp to the data processing teams. Task 4 participation to the Mid Term Planning Meetings MTPs for VAL and OPE, and Change Control Boards CCBs. The CCBs include ESA System Exploitation CCBs and GSOp GCS CCBs. Task 5 Support the development of evolutions related to operational improvements through participation in working groupsworkshops. Task 6 Support the resolution of ILS and obsolescence issues impacting operations at the control centre. Task 7 Liaise with the ESA Project Office in ESTEC on both urgent and daytoday matters potentially affecting the Galileo service continuity or limiting OPS capabilities. Task 8 Support the GCS Operators in their operational validation tasks, liaising with the technical experts in ESTEC and Industry and ensuring the operability of the delivered infrastructure Task 9 Participate, as requested, in Galileorelated reviews and technical evaluation boards, in particular contributing to GCS qualification reviews, intermediate reviews, system and operations reviews Task 10 In case needed, provide support also to deployment and AIV activities in relation to the Galileo Ground Mission Segment GMS. REQUIREMENTS The personnel assigned to carry out the above activities must eligible for a Personal Security Clearance PSC from a country within the EU, issued by their national security administrations. In addition, they should possess the following skills General skills Full command of English language oral and written Autonomy in writing minutes of meetings, technical notes, specifications and reports Good inter personal skills and team spirit Previous working experience in a multinational environment Good knowledge of MS office tools Excellent Organizational skills, good practical sense, being able to work effectively in a team and be able to work autonomously in the field of responsibility Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe. Experience in procurement of industrial activities Essential skills Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science Knowledge and experience of the Satellite Control and Monitoring Systems and Flight Dynamics Systems including its operations, architecture and implementation. Knowledge of IT technology including virtualization and networks. Knowledge of the development, test and verification as well as deployment of ground segments Following skills are considered an advantage Knowledge and experience in GNSS Systems, Galileo experience is an asset Deadline 11032020 Please note that interviews canwill be held via skype, webex or other digital platforms.
