Spandex and PTMEG Prices in China (Monthly Report)

Spandex prices have stayed unusually firm in September, due to the seasonal rebound in textile production in China. Long-term trends do not favor a rebound in prices, however, with new capacities planned before the end of the year. Our monthly report covers spandex and PTMEG prices on the domestic Chinese market, with weekly margin trends at spandex plants. Price offers of major spandex producers are also released. Daily data over the last 12 months and monthly average prices over ten years are available for download.

Recycled Polyester Prices in China (Monthly Report)

Demand for recycled polyester fiber prices remains depressed in China due to a narrowing price difference with virgin fibers. Excess capacities are resulting in financial losses. The market is not expected to rebound after the holidays. Our report covers the recycled polyester PSF and POY prices in China over the past three years. Re-PSF and Re-POY prices are compared with similar virgin fiber prices for PSF and POY prices. Weekly prices, as well as indices over 3-month and 3-year periods, are available for download.

Inflation rates are staying under control in low-income countries, as a result of a weaker economic growth of the global economy. However, inflation is soaring in Pakistan, where the stabilization of the rupee could negatively affect exports, as already observed in Turkey. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. The impact of currency changes vs. the US dollar, the euro, and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.
