We are looking for one Data System Manager. Profile Mandatory skills Knowledge of the SSA systems, in particular in the area of Space Weather Knowledge of advanced application deployment automation solutions containers, Chef and public and private Cloud environments Experience in project management Experience in software engineering related to big project covering all the V cycle Experience in requirement management e.g. DOORS Knowledge of ESOC infrastructure and operational environment Knowledge of Standards used at ESOC Engineering and Quality e.g. ECSS, CCSDS Awareness of the technology trends and interest in RT Demonstrated experience applying DevOps principles, delivering digital platforms Experience with Agile Scrum methodology Good knowledge of APIdriven, extensible, loosely coupled systems Good knowledge of automation, security, stability and scalability in private and public cloud environments. Handson experience in using and operating Docker and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Helm, as well as build systems such as GitlabCI, Jenkins, Automation technologies in particular Chef Every candidate shall be fluent in English Spoken and Written. French will be considered as an adding value. Responsibility Typically tasks will include not exhaustive Development and Maintenance of Mission Data Systems MDS Specification and management of Software Requirements Contractual and technical work for the start of a new MDS project Running the MDS software development and maintenance projects Support the Management and perform ESOC internal activities related to MDS deployment, testing, configuration etc according to ESOC internal processes. Support to Missions critical activities Organization of Software Support SWS onsite environment preparation Role of Software Coordinator Support to missions during the whole lifetime Review of MIRD and contribution to MIP Definition of external and internal interfaces Contribution to the SFIRD, GSSRD, GSSTP and review of SGICD Support to Ground Segment Reviews Support to regular progress meetings with Project and ESOC team Support SVTSOVTE2E tests and in general FCT activity Support mission closure and retirement of SW and HW items Support to 3rd Party and Special Projects Support the ESA service manager in defining the technical and organisational setup of ESA service, including SLA and costing Interact with ESA external 3rd party entities e.g. EUD, GSA, DLR, NASA, under agreement of TR Support ESA from data systems perspective towards external entities, in particular to recommend agreement on technical and organisational interfaces Coordinate the inhouse and industrial data systems team Interact with companies of new member states in preparation process for new activities Assume the data system architect role for special projects which are not based on reference architecture of ground segments for missions such as SSA, METERON, IAP Contribute to bring OPSGD and Data Systems perspective in collaborative projects with other ESA entities, in the context of special projects and future missions e.g. NAV, TEC, HRE Coordinate the inhouse developments of MDS for small missions Support to study, innovation and standardization Prepare proposals Run approved studies or innovation works Organize and coordinate joint projects with other agencies in the context of standardization e.g. interoperability testing, prototyping Support ESA as a member of international standardization working groups Other tasks Support tasks at division level Support Quality Management and actively contribute to improve ESOC internal processes and tools. You will be working in the team responsible for specific software applications for the domains of Space Weather, Near Earth Objects and Space Surveillance and Tracking of the Space Safety programme. We are looking for a Systems and Applications Engineer, who will support the Processing Applications Engineering team at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt. You will be challenged with a large variety of tasks supporting the routine operations of GEO and LEO Earth Observation mission as well as the operations preparation of furtue missions. Responsibilities Duties At our customer EUMETSAT you will be tasked with the maintenance and evolution of the facilities and systems of different Earth Observation missions such as the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS, Jason, or Meteosat Second Generation MSG. This includes a wide range of tasks, from the support of the daytoday operations and maintenance, to the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. You will also be the technical interface to external contractors.
