Can you apply your knowledge and expertise in data centre operations to ensure our Users maintain a steady access to satellite data, products and Climate Date Records? The Role Bring your experience of data centre operations, ideally gained from managing meteorological data, to help us provide services to our users. You will coordinate the routine operations activities of our data centre, ensuring that our provision of data services is accessible to our users. Your insights will contribute to the plans for routine operations and you will identify ways to harmonise engineering, maintenance and evolutions of all the data, products and Climate Data Records generated by EUMETSAT. You will interface with our user community, supervising anomaly investigation in the Data Centre Archives, monitoring support services supplied by contractors, and supporting the User Helpdesk. You must have experience of netCDF Format, along with other meteorological and earth observation data formats, metadata specifications and related tools. You need to be an experienced programmer, comfortable working in a variety of programming languages. We are looking for someone who has experience of the full software development lifecycle and the relevant industry standards. Our data processing systems are complex, so you will need to be able to use your analytical and planning skills, often coordinating activities in a matrix environment. You will have the ability to synthesise technical information and to provide updates to the management team as required. You must enjoy working in a team and be able to communicate complex information effectively, both in person and on paper. (Telecompaper) Mobile data roaming usage in EU has increased five-fold since the 'roam like at home' regulation was passed at the end of May 2017, according to a report from the European Commission. The number of phone calls made while roaming roughly doubled over the same period.

You will design, develop and maintain our big data architectures, systems and data services, ensuring that we able to exploit and manipulate our meteorological information to enhance the services that we provide, now and in the future. When analysing our user requirements, you will research and explore innovations in the industry, proposing concepts and solutions that match our assets. Using your technical expertise, you will specify, design and manage the testing and implementation of any new technologies in line with the evolving needs of our customers and users, identifying opportunities to streamline data services and the way we supply them to others. You must have a background in designing and evolving big data management and data access systems in a high availability, operational environment. You understand the implementation and management of big data architectures, using appropriate and effective industry technologies. Our data processing systems are complex, so you will need to be able to use your analytical and planning skills, often working independently in a matrix environment, balancing your priorities and resources with your sound organisational abilities. You must enjoy working in a team and be able to communicate complex information effectively. Experience of serviceorientated system engineering, cloud computing or serverless architectures would be an advantage along with experience of managing industry contracts.
