Main responsibilities The candidate should perform tasks related to Instrument data processing in support of the Copernicus S3 Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS, during current routine S3 operations, as well as for the operations build up for S3B and the routine operations phase for the dual satellite system. The tasks cover the operation of the different data processing components for S3A 3B, which include Data ingestion, processing and product distribution Data and Product analysis Operational performance monitoring and reporting, including the development, documentation and maintenance of the relevant tools for e.g. production statistics generation and reporting, PDGS monitoring and reporting The testing and the implementation of new products The settingup, implementation and update of operational procedures and documentation Anomaly investigation First line maintenance, including oncall support Coordination with external organisations and service providers Attendance at technical meetings Participation to formal reviews. Ideal candidate In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the job profile, the successful candidate will bring at least 3 years of experience of the operations of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered essential for each key person at least one of the service team shall have more than 8 years experience of the operations of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems, as well as demonstrated experience in planning and coordination of operation build up activities each key person shall have demonstrated experience in near real time, data driven, automated systems with large computer networks each key person shall have demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems each key person shall be able to communicate effectively in English each key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work under pressure and with a minimum of supervision. Furthermore, it would be highly desirable for the Key Person to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following demonstrated experience of Instrument data and product processing Level0 to 2 of meteorological andor earth observation products experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems development and maintenance of operational procedures andor configuration data programming languages e.g. C, C and IDL scripting languages and databases e.g. Perl, Python, shell, Oracle spacecraft andor ground segment operations knowledge andor experience of quality control, calibration and validation. Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the HE Space team of experts at EUMETSAT, you will have the following responsibilities In Phase CD contributing to Procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements Refinement of ICDs Testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements In Phase E contributing to Maintenance activities, including characterisation of system component behaviour against required performance, proposal and implementation of system alterations including component modification Evolution activities, including conceptual design, requirements specification, functional modelling, system analysis, and concept development to support increased performance, rationalisation of components, and cost reduction Review of System, Space Segment and Ground Segment GS documentation Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings at System and GS level Review of documentation dealing with technical evolutions of the EUMETSAT infrastructure.
