RHEA is currently recruiting a Data Processing Engineer to support the EU FP7 Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables QA4ECV project at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. The QA4ECV Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables project is an international effort, which will develop a Quality Assurance QA system for observational data products. Several scientific communities distributed among 16 institutes work together including the metrology, the nonsatellite reference measurement, the terrestrial and atmospheric remote sensing, the climate modelling, and computer science communities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Production of the multidecadal climate data record Analysis of the data record quality employing quality monitoring procedures and other validation techniques and data as appropriate Acquisition of relevant data from internal and external sources to support product quality monitoring Support implementation, processing and validation of the product with other international partners e.g. JMA, NOAANCDC Preparation of QA4ECV data for ingestion into the Data Centre Compilation of relevant data set documentation including validation reports, user guides and format descriptions Compilation of project result presentations and participation in project progress meetings. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Strong technical skills with a minimum of 1 year experience in the implementation of software for delayed mode processing of satellite data Strong experience in Programming languages CC andor FORTRAN Working in unixlinux environment Scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, shell Analysis and graphic software such as IDL Data formats such as NetCDF4, GRIB, HDF5, and BUFR Knowledge in processing and monitoring of large volume of remote sensing data Knowledge in validation of satellite products The following skills would be highly desirable Operational product processing environments Data bases such as MySQL and Oracle Meteosat missions and instruments Retrieval of parameters using visible wave lengths Calibration of satellite observations in the visible spectral range How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
