Summary of the role Start date 01.01.2017 The area of responsibility for this role is for Data Systems Operations Engineering, covering the areas of the following two Mission Data Systems MDS Sentinels Mission Control Systems Engineering support Sentinels Simulators Engineering support Initially this role will be fully dedicated the Sentinels MCS Engineering support, however it should not be excluded that at a later stage tasks related to the Sentinels Simulators Engineering support may be included. Key Responsibilities Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems Participation in the testing and validation of the various infrastructure elements used by the Sentinels MDS as well as definition of the future evolution of these systems Collaboration with other missions to ensure crossmission consistency and harmonization between Sentinel and other missions MDS systems, spinin from other missions into the Sentinel MDS and spinout from the Sentinel system to future systems including, but not limited to, future Sentinel missions The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. Requirements Good knowledge of Mission Control Systems for Earth Observation satellites and the EO MCS Kernelin working arrangements and the ability to apply initiative and creativity in the execution of tasks. Experience as Software Support for Earth Observation Missions including prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites Familiarity with MICONYS and in particular extensive knowledge in the operational deployment of external systems EDDS, GFTS, DARC Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Service provision in English Wellorganized, able to prioritize and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting Capability to interact with users in a customer oriented manner. Equinix sells data centre assets for USD 874 mln

(Telecompaper) Data centre operator Equinix has sold eight European data centre assets to Digital Realty Trust for USD 874 million. The sale of the data center assets was required by the European Commission as part of its approval of Equinix's purchase of TelecityGroup, which closed in January. Equinix has also agreed to buy, for EUR 189.7 million, Digital Realty's operating business in St Denis, Paris, including its real estate and data centre facility, which currently house Equinix's PA2 and PA3 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. The Paris deal, still subject to certain customary formalities, is expected to close in Q3.
