ATG is currently recruiting a Senior Data Processing Engineer to support the development of a payload software simulator at our clients premises in the Stuttgart area Germany. The company develops and produces travelling wave tubes for satellites and acts as a competence centre for space components and subsystems. Tasks and Responsibilities In the frame of the MTG Meteosat Third Generation program, the nextgeneration European operational geostationary meteorological satellite system a collaborative EUMETSATESA program a software simulator Payload Data Generator PDG shall be established for generating the measurement and auxiliary data from each major MTG instrument. The candidate is intended to support the EUMETSAT Ground Segment EUM GS development in particular the verification and validation of the Instrument Data Processing Facility IDPF. The scope of work will include Responsible for the Software Development of the PDG, including the analysis, coding and testing of algorithms described in textual form, andor by equations and with parameter data lists, mainly simulating the impact of the overall MTG data acquisition chain encompassing the geometric, radiometric and spectral deformations, as well as spatial resamplingremapping and data fusion functions which aim at adapting the sampling and map projection of external data to be prepared for the MTG instrument data generation Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification of the PDG Documentation Detailed Design, Test ProceduresReports, User Manual Being able to use the Payload Data Generator PDG, e.g. for user support and training Planning, preparation and conduction of the SW development for processing prototypes and operational processors for the postEPS ground software Support to SW development for MTG subsystem simulation. Experience and Education Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or similar qualification At least 5 years of experience in software engineering Good knowledge of typical Earth Observation instruments Good image data processing skills Good software development experience with C and Python Fluent written and spoken English. The following skills would be highly desirable Good knowledge of mathematics to be able to understand algorithms Good conceptual analytical skills.
