Manager, Contingency Transition Planning Luxembourg Betzdorf You are the key contributor in ensuring that the risks inherent in the management of a 60 spacecraft fleet in both geostationary and medium earth orbits are fully understood and managed appropriately. The contribution is focused in two key areas the formulation of ContingencyRestoration plans to account for possible spacecraft malfunctions as well as the formulation of plans for transfer of customer services from existing to new spacecraft Transitions. The role is cross disciplinary in nature, requiring you to balance technological, financial, contractual and regulatory factors, to find the best solution for SES and its customers. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Understand the SES GEO and MEO spacecraft fleet capabilities and limitations, with a focus on analyzing various potential GEO failure scenarios in the European and International fleet In order to minimize impact to SES and its customers at the time of a spacecraft failure, create, maintain and publish Transponder priority lists, Contingency plans and associated data Regularly update the Transponder priority lists and Contingency plans by monitor and follow spacecraft capacity allocation changes. Liaise with the relevant Technology groups to insure proper implementation Analyse spacecraft anomalies and report any impact on commercial operations such as changes in supportable transponder load, beam performance and projected spacecraft endoflife date. Reformulate Transponder priority lists and Contingency plans to reflect changes with a focus on the European and International part of the GEO fleet. If required analyse possible proactive migration plans to mitigate impact of anomalies Identify possible improvements to existing tools and processes used for the development of Contingency plans. Implementation of identified improvements as required Lead the planning phase of the transfer of services from existing GEO spacecraft to new GEO spacecraft Transitions as assigned. Analyse existing customer traffic and new spacecraft capabilities in order to formulate plans for the migration of customer services. Coordinate with all relevant internal teams involved in the Transition Sales, Solutions Engineering, Asset Management, Legal Regulatory, Technology, Global Services, in order to insure a seamless migration Develop competencies in HTS satellite designs to be able to support the creation of contingency and transition plans for the current and future HTS satellites in the SES fleet. COMPETENCIES Excellent analytical skills, innovative spirit, business mind, ability to provide practical conclusions Demonstration of the ability to be a team player, take initiative, be flexible and take leadership Very good human relations, interpersonal and communications skills internally and externally Ability to selforganise, prioritise and handle timesensitive tasks in a demanding environment Ability to work well in a multicultural, international environment Curious mindset and fast learner Selfinitiative, courage and pragmatism in order to identify and overcome impediments Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done. QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Masters degree preferably in ElectricalTelecommunication Engineering or equivalent professional experience Minimum 7 years of professional experience, preferably in the satellite or telecommunications field Technical knowledge of satellites technology, satellite operations and earth stations systems. Knowledge of Satellite payload systems and link budgets Experience in Satellite transponder loading techniques and practices preferred Experience in IT systems used to manage satellite payloads and customer contracts preferred Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English the knowledge of other languages is considered an additional asset OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS COMMENTS KPIs Smooth Satellite Transitions with minimum customer complaints, Customer support during contingency situations Interfaces with Commercial Sales, Solutions Engineering, Technology Space Systems Development Engineering, Corporate Legal, Development Fleet, as well as within the Commerical Operations organization Readiness to travel internationally if required.
