Network Support Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of an international team, you will have the following responsibilities Support of the project and hosting networks Monitoring of the networks and external communication interfaces Configuration management of the network systems Router, Switches, Firewall, VPNs Implementation of software tests on systems including interface tests Maintenance and monitoring of firewalls Maintenance of ESA network supply with on callduty 1st level support Implementation of daily checks of operational network systems Creation and validation of network support procedures Implementation of regular backups and antivirus monitoring of operational network systems Support of the analysis, planning and implementation of HWSW changes and upgrades within the Galileo operational environment Planning and implementation of new network solutions Active coordination with customers and other Galileo contractors regarding network issues Support of the analysis, identification and resolution of network issues Support of the creation of project documentation and proposals Maintaining of group and user accounts Training and briefing of users and new colleagues Representation of results Oncall service. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in a relevant discipline Experience in the network engineering area Ability to work in an multicultural team Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This is an unlimited position fully on our ESA customer site in ESTECNoordwijk, the Netherlands. Starting date is May 2015 and submission deadline for applicants will be the 6th April 2015. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES In the context of the ISS Exploitation programme, ESA has setup the ERASMUS Support Facility ESF which includes support capabilities to operations MSO, ERA, GS operations coordination room, Public Relations interface and the security infrastructure PKI, Secured DMS, etc.. Under the supervision of the Head of the Columbus Ground Segment Maintenance and Operations Section, the successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following tasks Maintenance and troubleshooting of ESF capabilities, in relation with relevant external procurements organizations. The improvement of the level of service is one of the goals of this task. In the context of the MPCC ground node and Class3 payloads network based on the internet protocol, the successful candidate shall, in relation with the relevant industrial contractors, plan, coordinate and validate the necessary ground implementations between ground users and the onboard LAN The successful candidate shall coordinate security implementations, audits and risk assessments in relation with the Security Control Board. In this capacity, the successful candidate shall participate to the ESA Security Control board SCB and other boards when relevant. The successful candidate shall produce and update at regular intervals an ESF CIDL. Heshe shall also produce an evolution plan and relevant ECRs to adapt and ensure continuity and availability of the ESF The successful candidate will conduct necessary validation tests and issue ESF validation reports. The successful candidate shall be responsible for definition IP addressing schemes and IP stack configuration definitions for users of Class3 PLs ground and board. The successful candidate shall produce validations plans and validation reports for the Class3 PL users ground implementations. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE University or similar degree in engineering discipline ESSENTIAL SKILLS Background in ground segment engineering and AIV IT security knowledge, in particular with vulnerability and incident assessments Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Ability to work in a multicultural team but also independently and in a proactive manner Ability to work with various international and industrial actors Practical experience in IP networking, if possible with a CISCO certification DESIRABLE SKILLS Familiarity with the ISS programmatic environment The ability to multitask efficiently BENEFITS Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday and generous training possibilities.
