JOB DESCRIPTION The Galileo Project requires engineering support for monitoring and controlling the overall preparation and execution of the Galileo operations activities. The service will support the activities of the Galileo Constellation Operations Unit HSOOGC in coordinating the definition, preparation, testing, validation, and implementation of the Galileo constellation operations, as required to meet the overall Galileo enduser services needs. Galileo constellation operations activities are performed in the Galileo Control Centres Oberpfaffenhofen and Fucino and LEOP centres Darmstadt and Toulouse. The service will be provided to the Galileo Constellation Operations unit, and in support of the ESA Constellation Operations Evolution Engineer at GCCD, covering the following activities Followup of the spacecraft design and constellation operations engineering activities Followup of the GCS and GMS design for their impact on the constellation operations engineering activities Coordination, followup and guidance on constellation operations preparation, testing, validation campaigns and execution activities in the GCCs, in particular for the areas that impact Galileo enduser services provision Monitoring the performance of the space segment infrastructure and participation in Anomaly Review Boards and closure of the associated actions Coordination of the different parties participating in the constellation operations related Operations reviews and Progress Meetings. Requirements Significant senior engineering experience of spacecraft flightconstellation operation related activities, with experience in management tasks i.e. managing spacecraft operations. A proven experience in a commercialindustrial environment andor experience related to flightconstellation operations in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV will be considered an asset. Based at Oberpfaffenhofen D, the service will also require travel to ESOC, ESTEC, Fucino IT and other European sites. The service providers should have University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. The Mission The Flight Operations Project Management Support function is part of the Flight Operations Office within the Columbus Operations Division, located at the Columbus Control Centre ColCC at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. The main function of the Columbus Flight Operations Office is managing the integration of ISS space station tasks from their assignment to a particular timeframe to the achievement of operational readiness, and the management of the implementation of the activities. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Management Support for the Flight Operations Office. The position includes specific duties as Maintaining a documentation management system for formal documents and correspondence document and file correspondence for NASA Change Requests, IDRD, IRD, and CCN updates and other high level ISS, HSF, and IOT documentation relevant to ESA operations tasks Support the organizational implementation of various ISS boards and reviews with ESA participation Maintain and follow up lists of ESA operational tasks, actions, identified risks and issues Independently monitor the Anomaly Reporting System and providing reports, excerpts monitor ART and MRB schedules and receive and file their reports Coordinate the IRD as main requirements document for ESA ISS operations and corresponding change notices, in support of the respective Mission Directors Independently support ESA in the coordination and preparation of all Certification of Flight Readiness CoFR activities for each stage and increment, as well as maintain the ESA CoFR process itself Independently support ESA in the coordination and preparation of the ESA certification of Flight Readiness for NASA Stage Operations Readiness Reviews SORRs Independent support the Chairman of the Mission Management Team meeting MMT and dedicated Operation meetings in the preparation of the weekly meetings by sending invitations, collecting meeting presentations and publishing them in a dedicated eroom folder, keeping minutes and the action item list for followup Coordinate PAO activities with the Communication Office and their integration in the operations community when an ESA astronaut is onboard ISS Support and followup the LessonsLearned process Organise and provide general support to facilitate the ongoing ESA and IOT operations activities at ColCC, by arranging and coordinating meetings and visits interfacing with the local hosting organization for badging, access, logistics, site services and other organizational issues. This is a fulltime position located at the ColCC in Oberpfaffenhofen, with occasional travel within Europe and a planned starting date in January 2014.
