The Challenge We are looking for an experienced software engineer to contribute to the development and maintenance of a suite of astronomical operations software. The successful candidate will support these activities at the site of Termas longterm customer, an international astronomical institute based in Munich. ISSColumbus Operations Logistics Engineer mf The Mission The Columbus laboratory, launched in 2008, is ESAs biggest single contribution to the International Space Station ISS. The 4.5metre diameter cylindrical module is equipped with flexible research facilities that offer extensive science capabilities. During its projected lifespan, Earthbased researchers, together with the ISS crew, will conduct experiments in life sciences, materials science, fluid physics and a whole host of other disciplines, all in weightlessness. Under contract from ESA, the Columbus Control Centre ColCC, located at the German Aerospace Center DLR facility in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, works closely with the other ISS control centres including Houston and Moscow. ColCC is responsible for all Columbus systems and for European science activities on board the ISS. The Challenge We are looking for an experienced logistics engineer to directly support the Head of the Columbus and Payloads Engineering. Located at ESTEC in The Netherlands, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of inventory management, logistics documentation and database management, as well as ground processing support to the European logistics tasks for the International Space Station ISS. Specific responsibilities of the position include 1. Inventory Management Definition, procurement and acceptance of services, equipment, tools and facilities required for inventory management and warehousing Supervision of Industry contractors in performance of ground inventory and warehousing management Coordination of Onorbit stowage and Inventory management Coordination of and participation to physical hardware inspections at the various warehouses in collaboration with the Columbus Operations Project Controller Participation to the ESANASA stowage teleconferences Coordination of spares procurements into the logistics inventory management system. 2.
