Small Mission Systems Engineer

Summary Great opportunity for an experienced systems engineer to join the Telespazio UK team, working onsite at ESTEC, supporting current and future smallsat EO missions in all phases. Objective The post will be within the Mission and System Studies Section part of the wider Future Missions and Instruments Division is responsible for the endtoend preparation of EO missions through the appropriate engineering activities, working in close cooperation with other EOP teams. In particular, the contractor will provide system engineering support to the implementation of missions based on Cubesats and other similar small platforms. Responsibilities Duties The successful individual can expect to be involved in Supporting projects related to mission implementation phase BCDE1 for future sats or for commercialapplicationoriented EO missions under the ESA InCubed programme Supporting the system level technology developments in projects under the InCubed programme, for the preparation of future related Calls and for risk retirement activities for small missions, e.g. Scouts, under maturation Supporting the definition and monitoring of small missions under preparation through e.g. participation to reviews, assessment of industrial results, evaluation of proposals in reply to Calls, including functional analysis and design, overall system concept, system level budgets, system performance analyses. Providing systemengineering support as EO Mission System Engineer in the definition and monitoring of activities for the preparation of future ESA EO missions, in particular Earth Explorers missions, Opportunity missions, Scout missions, and Earth Watch missions. Supporting work in the area of modelling of system or subsystem aspects and of endtoend performance simulators and simulations. Qualifications Experience University Masters degree, or equivalent, in Engineering or related discipline. Experience in space projects and associated technology developments. Essential Skills Good knowledge of CubeSats standard evolution and trend. Experience in the implementation of small satellites, ideally in the EO domain, including handson experience in manufacturingprocurement and environmentalacceptance tests. Experience in preparation Phases 0 and A of missions for Earth science andor commercialapplicationoriented EO missions. Knowledge of sensing techniques used in EO missions Knowledge of Matlab and STK or similar tools Technical writing, with ability to synthesize multiple inputs coherently. Qualities Teamwork orientation Methodical, and proactive attitude to solving problems Good English language skills Good organisational and communication skills
