The objective of this roles is to support of the system and service engineering activities. Location Brussels, Belgium SPECIFIC TASKS Prepare the service evolution plan. Integrate inputs system evolution plan, the respective service roadmaps, the security risk treatment plans, etc. and followup elements of schedule, cost, risk, performance. Ensure the organization and execution of the Service Exploitation Reviews biannual review and for the reviews related with the different services evolutions. Implement the exploitation of change control boards structure. Preparation, review, and administration of change requests, including the participation to the relevant CCB and the Engineering Board as needed. Analysis of the services provision changes, services rollout implementation of the new system releases. Monitoring the services provision risks and the contracts change proposals. Participation to boards, reviews, and progress meetings. Monitoring, coordination, control and reporting of the Programmes activities. Support the configuration management and ensure respect of the exploitation obligations. Support to the coordination baseline documentation. Monitoring and supervision of Services KPIs, incidents, user requests and related Service Communications. Mission and Service Definition Support, including for implementation of EU sectorial policies. Support to International cooperation, International Committees, including for Search and Rescue and signalfrequency coordination. REQUIREMENTS The candidate must have a nationality from any country in the EU and eligible for the EU security clearance up to SECRET level. Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification. Experience and background in international standardisation processes and institutions Technical experience in GNSS, preferably in the Galileo andor EGNOS programmes 5 years of experience in Service Management. Excellent management and organizational skills. Experience in specification, design or validation of an operational service e.g. under a KPI scheme Demonstrated capabilities in technical documentation writing in institutional context ESAGSA. Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines. Fluent in English, both in speech and writing. Other language skills would be a plus. Supporting the MC Chain test design preparation engineers Active involvement and definition of test cases procedures for the MC Chain verification, validation, integration and nonregression testing to the MC Chain Supervision and review of the MC Chain testing schedule and coordination of the day to day activities of the MC Chain team members and associated test activities. Your Experience You hold a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or any other related area. You have 5 years or more of experience working in the operations of spacecraft mission control systems. You show the flawless problem solver attitude Your strength are in analysis, synthesis and presenting solution! Teamwork is your dedication You will work together with several teams in and outside of EUMETSAT you have experience in applying your interpersonal, communication and reporting skills in a multidisciplinary context. You have proven experience with UNIXLinux systems preferably in operations. Last, but not least your experience in Earth Observation Missions will be a huge plus! Additional Skills Operations preparation and routine operations of ground and satellite systems. Definition and development and or maintenance of spacecraft mission control systems. Relational databases and database management systems e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB. Scripting or programming languages e.g. bash, CC, Java, perl, python. Use of configuration management systems such as CVS, SVN or GIT. Use of satellite simulators. Experience with MCS, especially SCOS2000 or HiFly. Summary An exciting opportunity for an experienced Optical Scientist to join the Telespazio UK team, working on site at ESTEC, to support Optical mission requirements and activities for future Sentinel missions. Objective The duties of this post relate to Mission Science support to the definition and implementation of future Copernicus 2.0 terrestrial optical Sentinel missions and other optical missions, including support to mission requirements consolidation and the development of geophysical algorithms and preparing products. Ideally, the successfull individual will also monitor the system performance budget up to and including the commissioning phase. In performing these tasks, the individual will report to the relevant StudyProject Manager and, maintaining close coordination with the relevant Mission Scientist and other members of the StudyProject team. For the mission simulator activities, the successful candidate will work closely with the Study TeamProject, but also with experts from the technical directorate. Responsibilities Duties Typical duties for the successful candidate will be Helping to manage the mission requirements for optical Earth observation missions Supporting, convening, and running relevant CHIME and Next Generation Sentinel Mission Advisory Group and Expert Group activities, including associated organisation and administration Coordinating the definition and development of algorithms to be used in the conversion of calibrated Top of atmosphere RadianceReflectances Level 1 to geophysical parameters Level 2 Initiating, managing and monitoring the development of the Level 2 prototype processor, including Definition of the scientific retrieval algorithms, Implementation of the prototypes of the scientific retrieval algorithms, Assessment of Sentinel mission performance on the basis of Level 2 products derived by prototype Level 2 processors.
